Seeds wont pop

I put my seeds in soil 5 days ago and they haven't busted through yet. Of course I'm going to continue to wait... but how long do most seeds take to show signs of life? This is an auto flower strain and I used the wet paper towel method for germination.

Any tips on making them pop faster?

Thanks

I'm assuming you had tap roots on all the seeds? If you planted them no deeper than 1/4", they'll come up in a day or two. I use SuperThrive in my water when soaking seeds and it seems to speed the process up by several days.

if the tap root was showing when you planted them they should be well out of the soil by now.

just make sure you didn't plant them too deep, 5 days is a while. i soaked seeds wednesday night for 24 hrs, then put them in the soil.
they all have leaves now and are under the light

5 days is a bit long... from the time I opened my pack and got a seed out to the time it broke the surface was about 2 days.

Just plant the seeds and dont pre germinate

Just plant the seeds and dont pre germinate. Give them 10 days at longest (if fresh) and then think about digging them up. If you just plant the seeds from the pack they should be sprouting in 3-5 days and just use regular water. You may have damaged the taproots by transplanting pre germed seeds.

All the seeds had cracked open during germ but the tap root was VERY tiny when I planted them. I'm hoping they're just doing their thing under the soil and will break surface in the next 48 hours. If they dont show in the next 2 days I will do some "surgery" and re-plant them closer to the surface.

These ideas are terrible. What's the temperature of the area the seed is in? Warmer temperatures will help root growth and germination. Also, make sure you plant about 1/4" deep like everyone said and keep the soil moist. Don't keep it soaked, but don't let it dry out either. The roots will spread out in search of water as the soil dries out a bit. And do not dig it up! You may damage the taproot like that. Sometimes it just takes time.

i agree dont dig it up but if u put your lamp on it you will be surprised how fast things move along
Correct, although not actually because of the light, but the heat that it produces. That's why hardcore growers use seedling heat mats underneath a seedling dome. If the soil is cold, it way take days and days for the roots to develop and until the tap root develops enough, the plant won't pop up.
