Seeds with out hermies?

my latest grow, im in the process of harvesting. first plant i harvested and cure i found one green seed and a few white seeds. next plant, i chopped the top colas off and after drying im finding fully mature seeds. not many so far only three but after finding the first one i tore threw every bud looking for more.

the thing i cant seem to figure out is this. there has been no signs of hermies ever. i had one male but he was killed immediately after he showed sex. i inspect my plants every day. sometimes multiple times a day. never once have i seen any sign of a hermie.

the other thing that leads me to believe there was no pollen released in my grow tent is my allergies. i am very allergic to pollen. hence my feverishly searching for possible hermies. i never once had an allergic reaction. unlike my very first grow where i refused to believe i had a male plant until he released his pollen. not fun, i had to stay at a friends for a week.

is it actually possible to get seeds without hermies? i keep telling myself i missed something but shit, i don't think i did.

Hermies will sometimes hide a few bananas deep inside colas and are almost impossible to find or see. You can't get seeds without male pollen. Sorry about your luck.

BOOM! i think i found my answer!!!!

Parthenogenesis ( /ˌpærθənoʊˈdʒɛnəsɪs/) is a form of asexual reproduction where growth and development of embryos occur without fertilization. In plants, parthenogenesis means development of an embryo from an unfertilized egg cell, and is a component process of apomixis.

Parthenogenesis occurs naturally in many plants

nahh actually that's still curing.

im smoking keif from some kush. dont know what kush, was just told it was kush. lol

do a search on parthenogenesis, its quite interesting and far more common then you think.

what made me think of that was whip tailed lizard. they are asexual and reproduce strictly by parthenogenesis. i used to be a reptile breeder and a very good friend of mine(one of the largest breeders in the world) had this happen with one of his boas a few years ago.

i still do not believe there was ever a hermie. my eyes would have swelled shut like they did when i stubbornly kept that male.

If you got like a couple of seeds I doubt if you would of got pollen flying around to get your allergies going. It's not like you got some potent male spewing pollen all over. And fuck your lizards troll.

I would be happy to find seeds in a room full of only females means........ female seeds IMO.
be happy you can continue the strain

i'm definitely keeping the seeds, so that's no bother. its strange is all. 3 seeds from 2 different buds(the 2 seeds on the same bud weren't even in the same area of the bud) seems odd if it were hermie. but i've never had a hermie plant either so i don't know.

i inspected the rest of the plant that is still alive and found no other signs of seeds or nanners. i even tore open swollen calyx's to find no sign of seed.

my wife and i just test smoked a bud and it's straight fire. soaring head high!

It probably hermied inside the nug. And when they herm like that, the banana will release very little pollen. Otherwise you would have had way more than 3 seeds.

could an inside hermie never show any signs of being hermie on the outside?

could it be possible because there is in fact no nanners? could parthenogenesis actually be taking place? and we mistake it as an "inside hermie"?

well, Ed Rosenthal says parthenogenesis does NOT occur in cannabis. so i guess there we have it. we will have to chalk it up as inside hermie.

Hey typeerror, really interesting thread here. Thanks for teaching me a new word. That is incredible it really is. Amazing to thing an organism can reproduce in this way and what you said with those lizards is cool too!

What Seed Bank and strain was it you started with, or was it unknown / bag seed? :-)

it was an unknown bag seeds. which is why i was checking for nanners pretty much everyday. i figured the seeds ended up in my bag because the bud i was smoking went hermie.

i wanted to believe so badly that hermie didn't occur that parthenogenesis could be the only answer. after further research though i found out that there are no known instances of parthenogenesis taking place in cannabis. i chopped the rest of the seeded plant down this morning and no other seeds and no signs of nanners. went and poured through those two buds that had seeds, finding one more seed but still no nanners.

chopped down 3rd plant. no seeds, no nanners.

4th plant gets chopped, working my way from the top cola down. so far, same story. no seeds and no nanners. get down to the very bottom nugs and find four seeds. tear out the seeds and i found the open nanner in the middle of the bud. the bud on the other side of the stalk had five seeds. this was the one plant i did not tear off the bottom most growth. will not happen again, from here on out all plants will have the bottom most growth taken off in the second week of flowering.

glad you found interest in the thread and learned something cool.

sidenote. do a google search for god hates checkered whiptalied lizards. hahahaha
