Seeds keep popping out of the ground

Okay my babies are germinating but instead of the roots going down, it seems to be pushing the seed up through the earth. This isn't a big deal as I just keep covering it with earth from around the side of the pot but, does anyone have an idea why this may be happening? Or indeed if there is anything I can do to remedy it? My guess would be that I packed the earth too tightly and the roots cannot penetrate.

Stop messing with it! It is normal the seed shell will fall off and 2 little leaves will appear.

Just for future reference dirt should not be packed into a pot ever, the plants like fluffy loose soil that provides oxygen to the roots easier and therefore faster growth.

But anyway it's normal the seed shell would still be attached when it comes out of the ground, just don't touch them.
