seeds germinated, need sure fire way to get seedlings

Just as it says....

I got my seeds germinated via the papertowel method and have nice taproots on all of my beans.

Now what? i need a SURE FIRE way to get my llittle seeds off to a good healthy start.

what should i do now? i have a rubbermaid grow cab, is it too early to start there? do i put them in the window and use natural light? what about water, how much?!

ahhhh im so nervous im gonna mess it up and waste these seeds ($$$!!!)

any help you can offer would really alleviate some stress im having!

i put mine in a seed tray with peatmoss put the lid on the tray and put it in a dark place for a day or so the will come out the peat moss usually 100 percent of the time

so once you've got the tap root, they break the surface within a day?

i planted 8 germinated seedlings, i planted them about a centermeter down with the root facing downwards in lose soil (not compacted/pressed down) and left them, 2 sproted within 2 days and the 5 of em took 2-3 days i think 1 even took 4 days and one never sprouted, but this was bagseed so i was'nt to stressed if nothing sprouted, anyway thats how i did it goodluck wich ever way you try

what did you do for watering? thats where my concern is. did you water the soil prior to putting the taprooted seed in, or what?

you want the soil wet when you plant, then mist them daily for a week or so.

once they have tap root you could just Jiffy pucks (not pots) and plant them in there , I've been helping my friend with his and he told me that I can have some seeds and if they sprout and get 2 to 3 nodes high I can keep them and well I planted them in the jiffy pucks , gave them 3 drops of B-1 Thrive amd Kickstart and it took about 2 to 3 days to brake the ground so now all I'm waiting on is for them to get 2 to 3 nodes high till I get to take them home

I was actually wondering about that myself - once I plant the seeds in the soil, how often to water and by what amount, because I don't want to drown them

What I've read what some people do is dunk the dixie cups up to the rim in water to saturate them, then remove and let most of the water dry for the next two days or so until the next watering. They also covered the top with clear plastic/saran wrap to make sure the inside of the cup is humid...is this good advice?

if you have good soil that drains well i think waiting two days is not needed. otherwise, that's about what i do and it has worked 100%. don't go crazy sweating the small stuff, this is a weed and it will grow like one if you let it.

I'm current using FF Ocean Forrest soil in small 8 oz plastic dixie cups with some perlite sprinkled on top. My biggest fear is I'll let the soil dry out, or overwater the thing.

What's your take on the saran wrap over the top?

I use saran wrap (with vent holes) until they break thru, then I lightly water and mist daily for 2-3 days. After that, ITS ON!!

FF Ocean....You dont need to use nutes AT ALL for at least 3-4 weeks. Thats some good stuff

i think its overkill if you are using flouro and you don;t live in the desert (like i do)

if your area is really dry or you have them under a HID light then saran wrap will help protect the plant.

make sure you have holes in bottom of cup
those litle girls are not going to use much water
most comon problem is from over watering..
i think the plastic thing is a bad idea

Ok took them off - thanks for the input guys.

I'm growing them outside, but since it's 12 hours of sunlight where I live, after sundown, I put them under some CFL's. Someone said this might invoke early flowering, since I'm switching from the most powerful light source known to man (the Sun) to some dinky CFL's...any truth to this?

How much water do you usually put in? 1 oz?

early flowering would come from not putting them under your lights..

i just use a spray bottle and get the top pretty moist. maybe an oz.

i got the taproot and put them in rapid rooter. then i got them under 400w mh bulb. will they root and get me seedlings?

Hi guys/girls,
I know this is not my thread but Id be greatfull if someone can give me a little help on my first bluberry grow.

My seed has hatched & Ive placed it approx 1cm down in presoaked rockwool (formulex nute, 300PPM & PH at 5.6) it has been 3 days & nothing is showing on the surface.Ive kept the temp at a constant 26-28 C & humidity at 80-100% (but it went down to 30% for a few hours today OOps). I dont know how long it take bluberry to show a shoot through the rockwool & dont know if its dead or not, I have the urge to dig it up & take a look but Im guessin for sure thatll kill it I confused someone please help.

humity is too hight ,
should not have used nutes so early
it may still be alive
but say a pray and prepare yourself for the bad news that it is dead

let me recap.

Take my tap-rooted seeds, place them in moist soil and keep the top of the soil moist by misting, don't over water here. is it safe to place my little cups under CFLs? I'm affraid that the soil dries out too rapidly and my little tap roots will shrivel up due to loss of hydration.

if someone can confirm this i;ll be one happy little bud maker.
