Seedling problem?

Hi everyone! I’m a new grower and I recently tried to germinize my white widow seed and i don’t know if I messed up. Let me explain. I put the seed in cup of water then let it float to the bottom, then I placed it in a damp napkin and put it away over night. I went to work the following morning and when I got back the paper towel was dried out. I panicked overcourse then redamped the the napkin and put it in a different container. The next day I Checked the seed and it actually had a root sticking out the seed but very bare minimum. I decided to keep it in the moist napkin for another night to see if it would sprout a little more before I decided to plant it and when I opened it to check the seed it looked like there was no progress... just the little white tip sticking out(white tip still looks healthy) My question is, is my seedling dead or should I keep it in the moist napkins for a couple more days to see if it sprouts more or should I just plant the seedling a pray for the best ?
*update*
I put the seed in the soil and used 2 red solo cups as a pot for the seedling. I cut the bottom of one solo cup and then cut that same cup in half and placed it in the other solo cup. I think procedded to take 1 cup of spring water and pour half on top of the soil and poured the other half in the bottom of the solo cup so that water can be soaked up whenever the plant needs it. How often should I water this plant? I also placed it under a maxsisum led light and put a plastic bag over the solo cup. I don’t have my fan running at the moment in my grow tent .

That paper towel needs to be inside of a baggy or something to hold the moisture. Seedlings do not want to be dried out it can kill them. Put the moist paper towel with the seedling in it in a plastic bag and check it tomorrow.

I forgot to mention I did transfer it into the ziplock bag last night and kept it closed but this morning when I check it. It looked the same no progress really... I hope I didn’t kill it .. but the little white root that is poking out the seed looks healthy Idk. I will put up a pic today after I get home.

If the root is starting to stick out the seed it's time to put in your growing medium of choice.

Ok so I put my seed in the soil and used the solo red cups as a pot for it. After I planted the seed I watered it with about 1 cup of water. It was spring water but I really need a ph scale...

You don't need all that drama ... Pre moisten cup soil ( not drenched ) , put seed in and leave it alone .... Once it pops , give it a water mist every couple days ...

That's it ...

Or just prep its final container and plant seed ...
It's REALLY THAT SIMPLE.

Right in the pot ... Mother Nature approved.

Ok ... I re-read the post ...

Way over thinking germ process ...

1. Start with a solo full to top. A simple water to moisten .
2. Use a good bagged mix ( save coco or peat for later runs ) ...
Something say like a veg / garden soil mix. Fox Farms is good for later growth but
seedlings will burn in it.
3. Make sure cup has a few drain holes at bottom.

My 2¢ on seed germ .... As others have their own ways.
I soak seed in a shotglass with Tap water ... No RO , No distilled , No unicorn piss.

Seed will be hydrated and sink to bottom ..... Then I plant seed in cup or container with Pre-Moistened soil. I put a light on it for 24/0 ( a CFL lamp will be fine to start )

The taproot will shoot straight to bottom and begin to circle cup.

Seed has nutrients in it to begin growth. Seedling will shed shell on its own , however sometimes it sticks and I gently pick it off with a toothpick. You can grow her out as long as you would like in cup but I usually transplant when leaves span the top of cup.

The older plant in red solo in pic - is for cup challenge on another thread .
It would have been transplanted by now.

Once it gets going I mist with water ... Seedling will pull Nutes from the soil , I add nothing.
