seedling mix

I use my base soil for perfectly green, vigorous and healthy seedlings. 1/3 EWC, 1/3 peat or coco, 1/3 perlite or rice hulls and then a cup of ag lime per cubic foot (7.5 gallons) of soil mix, since peat is so acidic. Anyway, it works and works well. Same plants less than 2 weeks later.

soo it would be better if i do 50/50 perlite verm?
one thing to consider, is when using those types of inert media, it's pretty difficult to transplant, because the media doesn't have any tension together, so if you do use a 50/50 of perlite and vermiculite, i'd recommend using a peat-based "plantable" container. so you don't upset the roots, or you could also use old toilet paper rolls with a plug of simply coconut-wool at the bottom to keep the media inside.
Personally that's what I use, only my growing media is old soil and compost.
But toilet paper rolls work perfectly, and are easy to transplant with zero shock, but you MUST plug the bottom with something...coco-wool works like magic for that

That is a phenomenal idea and tip. I have 4 kids and in a 6 person house we go through alot of ass wipe.
And here I've been spending money on solo cup party packs.
More proof to KISS-

That tip provided to me by a old hippy homesteading guy, yrs ago.
It was a damn good tip too, and the coco-wool works perfectly to allow the soil to be a perfect moisture, and if you are sorta new to the hobby, it's a good way to visually just look at the toilet paper roll to see if its wet, not to mention the roots will bust out the roll when they are ready to transplant, it really takes all the sensitive guesswork out of doing seeds.
Hard to keep watering if you see the whole roll wet still, and hard to not transplant if you see white fuzzy roots busing through.
In fact, it made me start using small thin strips of that coco-wool in my smart pots, placed vertically, I've found when I re-pot that that method seems to promote more a solid rootball (usually solid anyways, but more solid)
Also a damn great way to ensure that the soil tension doesn't repel the water, when it's dry, for those of you that like a lil dry period.
