Couldn't disagree more on Foxfarm. I use Pro-mix some too ( along with Foxfarm) but if Pro-Mix is all you use, then its going to need amended along the way, and amended carefully. For a noob, they're MUCH better off with Foxfarm straight out of the bag cut with some perlite and they wont have to worry about adding shit to it for the first 5-6 weeks.
I've grown shit that turned out dank as hell over and over with Foxfarm to say its shit.
Clearly it isn't.
There is also proof in writing that there are some people that work at Hydro stores that dont know shit apparently
that's cool if u grow dank round of claps for u but here were i live not 1 hydro store will stock it in a whole country so that must say somthing about fox farm now u can order it in yea but u are gunna get the same run down every time from each hydro shop owner first there hgunna tell u how shit it is then they are gunna offer u prob a soil that is 10x better then fox farm for half the price and its not gunna kill anything u may put in the soil ;)

I'm sure hot soil don't help but don't be scared to back the cfl's up a little.
When i first used them I kept them super close and trial and error lead me to realize you can back them up quite a bit.
It varies a little by bulb. 6-8 inches no problem in my opinion.
