Sup RIU, I'll be sharing wish you my journey in my first party cup and first SCROG attempt. I've done some autos which were fairly successful.

This will be a Freebie from attitude : Seedism Cheese Fem.
She's finally broken soil today.

I'm not exactly using a party cup but rather a contain that homemade lemonade from the Chinese store comes in lol. I taped around it with black tape to prevent light leaks with some holes for ventilation.

I plan to 18/6 her for two to three weeks at which point I'll switch to 12/12 cycle (depending on size).
I wanna pretty much grow this two an autos size.

Will be using CFLs and and tent went my other grow finishes.

Haven't seen it done yet but I'm going to SCROG with your standard milk crate. Let me know if I should beware of something here.

Not much else to report, get back in afew

Only problem i can think off with milk crates is that they are hard and perhaps sharp, wire moves a bit with the plants but a static, hard crate could create problems later in the flowering cycle, and might cost you few buds.

You could use a saw and remove the grid of the crate and replace with some wires/rope.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice bro much appreciated, I actually came on today to show my new idea which is basically what you said cuz I was worried about that precise issue.
This is my new set up

She's just under 2 weeks.

I'm actually thinking about doing this same set up with an auto (either Berry Ryder,Blue Amnesia, or Dinafems Fruit Auto), EXCEPT I will fill the bottom of the Milk crate soil instead of using a party cup. I'm going to wait until I get my tent back from another grow I'm helping a friend with. I've done a few autos with decent results but I never measured ph or had a really consistent perfect nute schedule so I plan on taking my time and doing my next one right with precise measurements. With a few grows under my belt I feel it's time to step my game up and really utilize the full potential of autos, cfls, scrog techniques, and a full fox farm regimen

Until next time

Straight into another technique...like it, although I would keep plants in seperate pots/units cause seperating their roots before transplant usually kills a lot of them.

Small denim/canvas bags are best, they allow the soil to breath through the porous material, like smart/air pots, I get 20-40% more veg in first weeks.

I prefer to grow regular fem seeds instead of autos, you can start flowering in week 3, finish flowering in week 12.
Normal seeds are not bred with ruderalis so have more potency and a better effect/high.

Another benefit is that normal/fem seeds only require 12hr light during flowering compared to the 18-24hr needed for auto's.

You are using lights so no need for auto's, they are really for off-season outdoor growing.

I finish a lot of seeds withing 12 weeks after germination.

Anyway, good luck mate

Thanks for the input man, yea that's what actually inspired me to use a photo for this grow. I saw a lot of party cups and saw you could get the same discretion if done correct.
I like autos because my situation isn't ideal for large plants but this seems to be a promising compromise. I'm glad I'm no longer restricted to autos because I know I've been missing some great strains, although I do find the interesting and will always have them in my garden.

And yea won't be planting multiple girls in one pot I can't stand the thought of trying to separate them.
And I love that I'm gonna be able to 12/12 her and give those poor cfls a rest lol

Thanks for the guidance it's much appreciated

So this week I Lst'd her to the side and today I decided to top her. It may have been a little early but based on my research I made a judgement call. So that would be the 1st topping on the 4th set so we we'll see what happens.
Not sure exactly how ill shape her but it should be fun figuring it out.

Is it me or is she small for 2 weeks?
Maybe just because I'm used to autos...

I have not much experience with auto's, but ruderalis tends to veg faster due to the deadly cool climate where they originate from.

Most regular strains tend to kick in around week 2-4 before the real vegging starts to show, but yours is a bit on the smaller side.
Low light also stagnates her a little, but that is to be expected with a small bulb, although you should see improvement soon.

Good luck

Thanks for confirming much appreciated

She seems to be healing very nicely from the topping, I was a little worried but she's resilient.

I decided to do a full grow instead of a party cup seeing as I'm scheduled chop down my g13 blueberry on Saturday (pics coming soon) so she'll be going in that tent.

The transplant went pretty smooth and she's now resting comfy in a new bed of FF

She looks pretty shorty and bushy but part of that is from the very early Lst
This allowed me to get the screen to soil distance pretty low but still enough room for new growth. Trying to keep her profile low as possible

Can't wait to see the full results of the topping

Sorry for absence my schedules gotten pretty crazy but I'm back with a new update on my seedism cheese freebie.

It's now 1 month (day 31)

So it my be hard to see from the the pictures since she's a bushy mess, but I've Lst'd her to the point where her stem is completely horizontal, using some solder wire as make shift hooks to hold down these huge fan leaves. I wish she wuss a bit neater but I am happy with her progress so far

2 days ago she had her 2 feeding of Ff veg nutes. First feeding was a quarter strength and the 2nd was a full dose with a very minimal burn (about two leaves)

She's also had her second top which I tried to zoom in but my cam sucks.
Nevertheless I could be happier with how she healed, now sprouting to tops where the main was. I figured I let grow out another week and and do multiple tops and then depending on recovery time and how full she is, flower her 2-3 weeks after that.

Right now I'm running 65k and 1 large 27k cfl
Thinking pretty soon I'll have to add more and even increase the bulb size on all 65s to get the most from this veg.

I love these micro grows! I have a milk crate like that, I keep all my nutes in it. You definetly went the right way making a screen, the plastic bottom would have given you all sorts of trouble. If you wanted to do the same setup after this, you may be able to put screws along the edge of the crate and use those as tie down points to weave a cleaner screen.

Wow thanks bro much appreciated, that nail idea actually make a lot more sense, it's cleaner and more precise. Think I'm gonna run that when I do my blue amnesia next.
