Seed sprouted yesterday and now......

3 seeds barely sprouted yesterday and I had a plastic cover over them to build up the humidity cause I heard thats the way to do it, so I just took the plastic covers off to let them get some fresh air and these suckers are like 1inch-1inch 1/2 tall. Im guessing this is stretching cause 2 of them have leaves that are flopped over mid way (looks undeveloped) so do I take off the covers or turn off the lights for a longer period of time.

I have them on 18/6 plan as I heard this is what to do with seeds. So is this normal?

What lighting are you using? When I first grow my seeds I had them under 24 hour light till the second set of leaves were developed. And turned to 18/6 just as the third set started. as for the height You need to specify you lighting type so we can help you.

oh by the way.... Dont turn the light off for a longer period. it wont promote better growth or fix the leaves. under developed leaves just happen sometimes.

Im using 1 CFL-bulb 27 watts and the seeds are about 5-6 inches away from them.

Can anyone tell me when the plastic tops come off.
Take the tops off now. I take mine off as soon as the babies sprout. Move your light down to about 2 inches above them, and plan on adding another bulb or two per plant. Make sure you are useing 6500K for vegging. Good luck!:peace:

i agree completly. i have 4 15 watt 6500k per plant and must keep them about 2 inches above. if they get to close the leave tips will burn and to far away and they will slow the growth. my plants also are very picky about temp , if my area falls below 79 degrees growth slows as well same if it goes over 85-86 degrees.i have never used the dome.
