i found a couple bags of seeds from a dispensary that has been closed for over 2 years and they ALL germinated. These seeds were kept in a box in a friends garage.

fem seeds if done properly cannot turn male, they turn into hermies, which will pollinate with hermi traits. The whole point of fems seeds, is that they are missing the male chromosome, you have to convert a true female into a hermi, and then pollinate another true female with the fixed pollen. no males involved, all female genetics, but there way too touchy and unpredictible.

Seems like read somewhere that some seeds were found in one of the pyramids in Egypt and it sprouted just fine at 2,000 years old. Would suspect cool and dry would be the ticket.

Seeds last anywhere from 1-2 years without refrigeration. By the end of the first year usually germination rates drop to the 90% range (usually one or two won't germinate, but sometimes they all end up being fine). If you store your seeds in a refrigerator (thats what seed breeders do) then they can last anywhere from 2-5 years without a drop in germination rate usually. No matter how you cut it they have a long shelf life.

Someone I know is buying 55 seeds next week and they aren't all that concerned with shelf life. That's really the least of their worries.

a short time ago I actually found a seed in a location where I know it must have been at least 3 years old. It did sprout even though I managed to kill it later by not following advice given. The whole point of the hard shell is so the seed can survive "hard times" then sprout when it detects enough moisture.
I don't know if this is typical though.
