Seed Sexing??

Hi everyone,

I haven't been on in a while, figured I would stop though. I found a youtube post on sexing at seed, skipping the "flipping to bud and reverting back" process that can be very time consuming.

Anyone ever heard of this? Being able to tell the sex at seed? Maybe I have been in the woods too long...

I am going to experiment with this ASAP! Looking through the seeds tonight. Flipping to bud soon so it will all work out perfectly.

Going to pop 31 seeds using this method (Legal for 36 plants, have 5 going). I am going to follow this closely and see if it works.

If all goes well I will be saving a lot of money on seeds for now on. I have tons of reg seeds I never use but would like. Might even get into plant breeding if it works.

Wasting your time.

Why not just wait for preflowers? Seems silly to flip and flip back when you can veg. for 4+ weeks and they will show without flowering OR flower clones like a tonne of folks do. I can tell my plants 90% of the time by 4 weeks, if they look male I'll put them in flower to make sure, females are usually pretty obvious tear drops and will show a pistil if you wait long enough. I use a 30x. I check both sides of the top 2-3 nodes with a 30x.

Sometimes it can take me a bit longer, but I'm pretty good at guessing prior to flower but I've had plants were I've been off either way

Female seeds aren't always female. Plenty of folks here will tell you that.

Research has not determined which genes dictate sex in plants, so at this point, flowering is the only definitive (scientific) method. Anything else is hypothetical.

Do preflowers look like long spikes? 2 on each node? the two ,5 week old, plants that I do not know the sex of have them and so do the females.

So is the guy in the video faking his experiment or just lucky? Whats your opinion on that?

Has anyone actually tried this or just denied it on default because there is no supporting research?

And this will not be a fruitless adventure if I harvest even 1 female cola out of 31 plants. Its costing me next to nothing to try this old Indian witch doctor seed sexing trick.

The only way you can tell is if you make your plant pollinate itself, when, obviously, they will all be female.
Theoretically they would be all female although if there is a hermaphrodite latent gene you could get some interexed plants. So if suppose only true females. Weird I know, genes are goofy

I wouldn't say he's faking his experiment, but I would say he's seeing what he wants to see. Lots of folks have tried this on here and they have all came to the conclusion that you will get males from supposed females and vice versa.

Feel free to try it, but don't put your eggs in one basket, by that I mean sprout all the seeds. It's the only true way to know, if you throw out the "males" you are probably throwing out 50% females ;)

I have no idea why they haven't banned him yet. 1800 posts in a month and all he does is spam threads with 1 line completely unrelated to the thread.

The site is 18+

Thanks! That is a huge help! Even with 50% females I will be happy. Its all extra plants I am going to be growing on a shelf they are all going to be small.

It looks like 1 of the plants is female and 1 is male of the 2 reg sour diesel seeds I popped.. if the preflowers show true to their sex anyway..

Not sure yet on the male looking one, though. The preflower really isn't big enough and looks like a little nub at this point which I see could go either way. A little more time...
