Seed Prices May Rise with the New Law Banning Foreigners from Holland Pot Shops

I see it like this, that's going to be a DEEP dent into the profits of Holland's growers and Holland's pot shop business. They're going to make the difference up somehow and I believe we who buy seeds online will see a considerable increase in the price of seeds. Most of the "popular" seed sellers online are based in the UK and Holland, but the UK sellers still get their seeds from Holland.

I don't see how seed prices could stay the same. I've seen a few other news articles on the new ban of foreigners from Holland pot shops, some said the ban will take effect by the end of this year but I'm still not exactly sure of the set time the ban will be in effect.

What kind of seed price increase might happen because of this? Doubling ? Tripling ?

I believe the seed prices will remain the same, the tourists don't have anything to do with distrubuting of seeds. Most are sent by postal from the breeders themselves. And your saying theorectically if this ban passes, which in my opinion it won't..its just a scare tactic.

I'm in agreement with NJ. I don't think the ban is going to pass. It'll cripple their tourist industry. The Dutch don't have a whole lot to see there aside from Tulips, Wooden Shoes, the Red Light District, and loose drug laws. Historical tourism is nice, but there's only so many WWII era bunkers that you can see before you've seen them all. Nazi architecture wasn't known for it's extravagant fluted columns and beautiful ramparts. Hehehe.

The ban wont last long imo, as the majority of dutch tourists are either stoners, perverts/sex addicts, and a few musieum goers tbh and with all the stoners gone it's just gonna be the seedy sex side left. Lmfao good luck with that Holland your BIG loss lol.

Too true. The seedbanks and breeders there will just find somewhere else to host their business, and Holland will be left with nothing but lost revenue.

Eh, you're forgetting that it's still a Federal crime to have a dispensary. As sweet as it would be to host such a business, sadly, the DEA is not going to allow that to happen. They'll be ran out of the country before they even get off the boat.

.....well there's other places in the world the seed co's can base themselves and sell seeds legally too. In the UK for instance we can legally buy/sell/trade mari seeds totally legal, it's just when they're germed & grown that they become illegal and I guess they'll just go back underground too.

Yeah, it used to be that way here. I remember going into a store with my cousin when I was about 15 years old or so, they had hemp products all over the place... even sterilized seeds. I'll be 35 this year and now you can't even get those over here anymore.

You should have done some research before this post.
TH Seeds relocated to Colorado last year from Amsterdam and DNA is starting a USA division in California at anytime now.
Subcool/TGA, Cali Connection, & the Bushy Old Grower (BOG) have their businesses set up here in California, and without incident (knocking on wood).

hey im new here but i wanted to say that i dont know why they actually passed this, when i went i was told by a tourist agency that holland derives so much $$$ from pot shop tourism. its a huge chunk of their revenue. so my question is do they have a magic pot of gold somewhere lying around?? there is no way that the ppl of holland will smoke as much and spend as much on cann as the tourists who travel there, thats for sure. what they are doing is akin to cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Then I stand corrected. I mentioned in another thread that things were changing here in the states, I'm glad to see they're farther along than I thought. Hopefully, my belief that things will get worse before they get better won't hold true either. I shudder to think of how bad things could get if the DEA went after the MMJ community full bore. That would get ugly fast.

Wait, that doesn't make sense... how the hell are they running a mail-order seedbank on US soil without the DEA crawling all over their asses? Cannabis seeds are still highly illegal here.

Selling the seeds to patients who grow, or caregivers... that I can see. But Cali Connection, Subcool, and BOG are all in retail mail order, too. How are they NOT getting shut down?

My best answer to that would be...

Seeing as cannabis seeds don't have a pungent odor like cannabis buds I don't see it as being more logistically complicated to run an online seed business in the USA then it is to sell oxy-80s online and I am aware of at least two groups that have been quite successful doing just that though one is now either defunct or under my radar as I avoid pharmaceuticals where possible.

if the dutch outlaw sales of mmj to foreigners they will shortly see their economy go to shit. tourism is like free money to a country. people go and spend spend spend. they will realize all the $$$ they lost and will revert back to the old ways. they don't want their economy to go the route of greece and risk having a country with no $$$. some people are just so stupid. Alcohol is legal all over the world and i know in some parts of europe kids can even drink it, but weed oohhh my goodd we have to protect the people from this devil of a plant god put on this earth. f'ing hypocrits.

Most base themselves in the UK as a seed co cos mari seeds are totally legal to buy/sell/trade here as I've already said, but the mari plants themselves are still highly illegal to grow & smoke here in the UK. Messed up I know lol these stupid laws just need to go now, I mean WTF!!
