Seed not germinating! Help PLEASE!

For almost two days now, I have been trying to germinate my seed. [i only have 1, so it is important that i can get it to work--i dont have access to any more]. In the beginning, i put the seed in water for about 1 full day, I then moved to the paper towel method, putting the seed in between a few wet paper towels, in a plastic bag, and in between a bowl and a plate . So far nothing has really happened! Is it just a bad seed? The towels are around room temperature, maybe a little colder. Is there anything I can do to ensure germination?

Thank you!
:peace:

Edit: Just five minutes ago, I placed the plates with seed on a heat pad on low.

ALMOST two days lol. You need more patience. And less handling of it. i dont like the paper towel method AT ALL. Too much handling of it. Checkin on it, disturbing it, and then when it does sprout a tap root, you have to handle it again to put it in the dirt, which can be done wrong. So theres a lot more room for error when you do it like that. MJ seeds germinate VERY easily. Darkness and moisture is all you need. i just put em in the soil it will be growing in. 1/2 inch deep water once and cover to keep moist. 48 hours or so later remove the cover and there she is. it has never not worked for me. You may have a dud seed, it happens. I hope not. Good luck!

thanks, one more question
Do i need to put it in light? Because i plan on growing outdoors. If so, can i just put it in outdoor light?

similar question.
i have these seeds from this supposed haze with seeds in it. i dont know if i really think its haze but when i found good weed with seeds i jumped on it for something to grow. the bud smells and smokes well, if i had to diagnose the bud myself id say it was some good looking kind bud; ive dubed it mystery haze. i have 5 seeds that have been germinating for 2.5-3 days and havnt broken the shell. my friend got this weed a week before me and has been germinating for 5 days now i think and he also has had no results. im only germing the hard dark colored seeds, they all have little tiger stripes if that means anything
if nothing happens im sure its the fault of the seed and nothing i did wrong, but is there anything i can do? is it probly genetics of the original plant?

Light does not penetrate dirt. The reason people sometimes put a light over it is 1) provides warmth 2) So ya dont have to be around to give it light when it breaks the surface of the soil. otherwise it will start to stretch right off the bat. outdoor light is fine but careful outside with a baby plant.

You didn't explain your germ method but if its not germinated in 5 days I don't like its chances. tiger stripes are fine. If you have that many seeds and NONE of them have sprouted you must be doing SOMETHING wrong? To cold most likely?

Fresh seeds have a waxy glimmer and a hard, intact shell.
Colours range from a buff through a dark brown, and from light grey to almost black colours. Often seeds are mottled with brown or black spots, or lines on a lighter field.

Green or whitish seeds are usually immature and will germinate feebly if at all.
Shiny, very dark brown or black seeds often mean the contents are fermented and the embryo is dead. Fermented seeds crush easily with finger pressure and are hollow or dusty inside.
Brick or compressed cannabis seeds must be checked as seeds that are bruised or crushed are not viable.

Keep it in the high seventies as far as temp and if u still see npo results u can also try scuffing the bean surface with sand paper or the like I use a razor to make a very small chip in ONLY the first layer this proves successfull about 75 percent of the time if they failed once before.

Thanks everyone. My seed just germinated successfully!

@kaleoxXx, heat is really a vital componenet, at least thats what i found. Put the seeds in a paper towel, using the plate method and put it all on top of a heating pad covered in a shirt, on low. that worked for me!

ok for 3 days i was germing these seeds in a plastic bag with folded paper towel. about 2 days ago i switched putting a paper towel, folded up more on a plate w/ a bowl over it. today i realized the seeds are def too cold. 5 days and only one has cracked the tinyest bit. i can see whiteness inside but nothing has poked out. ive been trying to keep it warm am having a hard time thinking of a creative way to keep the seeds warm and dark at the same time.
my friend who is also germing the same seeds has zero growing experience, but i dont think he could mess up something as simple as germination. his are over a week old and have had no progress on a single seed. he germed about a doz. he says the only change was purple spots around where some of the seeds were. he has switched them into a fresh bag, but has little hope of anything happening. i was thinking the purple spots are either rot, or maybe the presence of some unknown chemical, either to improve the appearance of the bud we bought of (more diabolically) to prevent the seeds from growing. or maybe just some shady old seeds from old weed with poor genetics.
any advice would be appreciated. or dose anyone have an explanation to the purple spots? or an idea to keep seed warm and dark? i am thinking about putting them covered in my little growbox

I use the top of my home stereo. On top of it there are slots to let the HEAT from the amp out. ;) its always warm up there. Not hot, but just a little warm. I germinated a bunch of veggie seeds up there to. :)

perfect reference to get my mind going. although its not good the ps2 is always running and makes a bit of heat. ive been using the heat from my hand, hardly even touching the things, every half hour or so warm them up up. very boring, quite a drag

two seeds cracked open and produced a tip within hours of being on top of the playstation. how could i forget heat? well has anyone seen purple spots on the paper towel? dose this mean rot? i think ill tell my friend he should get fresh seeds anyways and start over

This guy knows what he is talking about and you should listen. Its way easier to germinate your seeds right in the soil you are going to grow in or you can use peat pellets. Way smoother than using a paper towel. And if you need a little warmth get a $10 heat pad from wal-mart
