72 hrs minimum with some exception, i gave mine 3 days, and about 1/3 were germ, the rest finished within 7 days from the begining. warmer and moisture the better

I leave mine on my stereo amplifier, with the stereo on , and the volume turned all the way down. The heat makes a world of difference. Just be careful that the paper towel stays wet, as this added heat will dry it out fast. Good luck, I hope they all germ for you.

are you keeping them somewhere warm? thats helps alot. I advise you dont use this method in the future though, its alot easier to keep them in a cup of water in a warm place w/a drop of hydrogen peroxide, they should all crack within 24 hours, 48 at the most. then just put them into your growing medium.

is your soil good and moist. and very warm? they can take a week or more to pop. next time try soaking them for 12 hrs then put in soil. My seeds pop in 1-7 days

Are these the same seeds that you started on the 8th? If so, it's probably not going to happen. The whole point in starting them using the paper towel method is to get them to crack. If they aren't popping that way, odds are that they won't do any better in soil. They might not be viable.

yeh there the same seeds. i did the whole paper towel thing before i soaked them, then they didnt work so i just thought stuff it il just put em in the saoil. should i just keep it going for a little while longer

This may or may not help, get a pair of tweezers and pop open a seed, most of the time, those seeds that seem hard 2 crack need some help (if doing so, squeeze the tweezers closer to the nose of the seed - this assures you crack open the seed, an avoid crushing the seed, or worse, flipping the seed with the tweezer and never finding the seed again). lol. Then place them back in the paper towel, for another couple of days, should have a root by then.

shit shawti, the exact same thing happened to me... killed 10 seeds. i soaked them in a shot glass till they sunk, then put them on a plate w/ moist paper towel. only one showed a small root, but the shell never even cracked all the way. Soooo... I would not recommend the paper towel method unless you lack the room to do a rockwool germination.

I got 10 more seeds and germed them in rockwool, and out of those all 10 germed: 9 sprouted and were showing their first true leaf pair within 72 hours of planting the seeds. pretty damn good results!

after they sprouted I planted the small rockwool seed plugs into solo cups w/ FFOF soil. 2 nodes later and they were placed into 10 inch pots of FFOF. currently they are on their first few days of LST and they all look good! I also had a buddy w/ a blue dream seed (blueberry X haze), thought it'd be a good addition to the 9 blue mystic plants (blueberry X skunk) to make it an even 10! using rockwool germination i planted it -- it sprouted and now only a week later is workin on it's first 5-leaf set!

sooo... i would advise rockwool germination -- just be sure to use a humidity dome or a humidifier on the sproutlings and keep the temperature @ or above 80F. I also added apple cider vinegar to their pur filtered water to lower the pH to about 6.5. i find this generally useful to keep it in that 6.5-7 range.

IMO if you're gonna fuck with your seeds you might as well declare them dead... if yo're that impatient it means the process didn't go smoothly and the seed is probably rotted out. i quit on my seeds after 8 days of nothing, figuring i switched methods or fucked wit the seeds too much... just plant them in the starter cubes and watch em sprout! no need for paper towel/shot glass bullshit...

there is a thread around here (a guide to growing i believe) that details a process similar to this that i have been using with great success. basically hold that seed still, and either chip a piece (very carefully) at one end, just enough to expose the embryo, or shave it down with some sand paper til you can start to see that soft green.

using the chipping method, my germination rates went through the roof, and i tend to see a good half inch taproot in the first 12-16 hours (depending on the seed). might be worth a go next time around. i would reccomend playing around with bagseed first though, i went through a couple seeds before i got the process down withouth damaging. funny thing is one of the seeds i SLIGHTLY damaged but decided to try anyways has actually now turned into my most thriving seedling...

If you're not comfortable trying to crack the seed shell correctly without hurting it, you could just scuff it up some with a piece of sandpaper, and that should help the seed to germinate without fear of fucking it up. :D Other than that everyone has said everything else I know to do, there's some good advice in this thread!

I'll post my method which has worked for all the seeds I've germinated. I take 1 paper towel sheet and rip it in half. I then take each half and fold both into smaller identical pieces. Piece 1 acts as the bottom and piece 2, the top. I wet both pieces of paper towel making sure they're not soaked and then I take 2 disposable cereal bowls (you can use 2 plates and whatever else you can find), and I place the bottom piece of the paper towel on the bottom of cereal bowl 1. I place the seeds on the paper towel and cover them with the other piece. Then I take the other cereal bowl and flip it upside down to act as a humidity dome. I use a rubberband to keep both bowls in place and place the contraption over something a little warm (stereo, tv, computer, etc.)
