Oh no don't get me wrong there a lil stinky now but now as bad as I thought you really gotta get in there to smell it, like I said this is my first grow and I missed vegitation completely when he gave me the plants they juuust started flowering. I got them in a small corner on my closet with a fan a 150W HPS light I just built a corner peice out of ply wood and 2x4s to cover it also covered my wall and the corner unit with reflective material from my local hydro store. I've been doing a lot of reading around and from what I understand when you dry them is when they reallllly start smelling I was wondering if anyone knew of a way I can contain the smell other than a carbon filter I can't really afford it right now due to buying the HPS light and ballast, wood, and reflective material. I got the HPS light cause I plan on doing this again from the beggining this time, only a couple plants at a time, just enough that I have smoke for a while without having to go buy it. Any suggestions

Interesting. I'm having the same problem. I am growing a few plants and they do not hardly smell at all. They are growing just fine, but the odor is minimal.

Slide show of my plants. They're not shitty. They're growing just fine. But the smell is very weak. I'm not sure what this means exactly, but I'm relatively certain that this lacking of an odor could indicate that I am growing some weak ass bud.

The plants will always smell the strongest about an hour before the lights come on. I think I would get one of those movement activated air fresheners and put it right inside ur bedroom door, that way when u walk in or out the only smell that escapes is clean linen (or whatever). I have also burned incense and used Ozium air deodorizer.

Ona gel is another option. I have heard that folks swear by it for a small grow but I use carbon filters in my rooms. The ona gel may be a cheap fix for you since you are budget minded.

Awesome advice guys thanks a lot, this is deff. My fav. Forum for growing I tried another one and I kept getting negative feedback, for instance I posted this exact post and all I got was maybe you shouldn't have bought them if you weren't prepared and shit. I do understand that but I am what I like to call a weed enthusiest I love it in all forms especially growing it from what I have learned in the past three weeks, and I mean I don't think I'm doing that bad considering I went out almost imediatly and bought a HPS liight built a grow box and such.

Back on topic though how bad is it going to smell when I hang them to dry? And put them in paper bags there after? I feel like that's when its gonna start getting real stinky, and I mean shit if it was just me I would have themhanging right in my room as I love the smell :-D

When you first trim and hang them they will smell like new mown hay or grass. That is the chlorophyll you smell. As they start to dry out, they start to get that distinct odor. Slowly at first and then BANG. After I have decided that they are dry enough, I cure mine using glass jars that are air tight. Once they are in the jars, no worries until you have to open it up. Day by day, the smell gets a little richer.

Sounds awesome ill just get a lot of air wick lol, so you go straight from hanging to jars? I tthought you were supposed to put them in paper bags for a lil while as well, and once there in jars you take them out and move them around about every 12 hours right?

i did some hang, paperbags, jars and straight to jars last year.. idk the stuff that went into the jars first smelled alot better. i think plants at the end of flowering smell more then drying it personally.. unless it chop down a lb and walk through your front door. shouldnt be a problem if you only got 1 or 2 plants.. get a cardboard box and string wire across the top. hang the buds and you can even get like a rubbermaid tote and put the box in side of it. make some holes in both boxes for ventilation, even alittle fan. should help with smell alittle
