secret iraq documentary

lol lets see if I can guess at this. Americans attack Iraq for WMDs that do not exist. Iraqi's attacking Americans are 'freedom fighters' as they are being occupied by an aggressive nation with no valid reason. US paints all Iraqis as terrorists or Muslim extremists.

How'd I do?

not even close theres no mention of WMD's. while it looks at the insurgency it differentiates between the different groups within iraq and it goes into details on how the us and uk forces were helped when some of the insugency groups turned against the al queda presence there.

perhaps you would be better to watch it rather than judge it from ignorance

People in USA cannot watch the link. I am guessing it is a Puff piece designed to give the war some bit of legitimacy.

more of a blanket statement than talking about anything specific ;)

anyway now you can see it on youtube what do you think puff piece legitimising type docu? or a quality look at the side of iraq war you hadnt seen before?

personal i think its a very candid look into what happened and why and i think anyone who's ever spoken up about iraq war (for or against) should spend some time watching it

O I C. So basically what you are saying is that anyone who doesn't agree it is the greatest piece of photo journalism ever is a a Nut ball conspiracy theorist now? I mean you said i spent my days finding the most obscure conspiracy theories but now you cannot back up your claim with any kind of proof at all, but now you just say its a blanket statement. I think perhaps you are full of shit?

Refreshing to see the Iraqi view of the war. What most people seem to ignore is the possibility that the Iraqis were not our enemies, just like in our own country, it was the Iraqi government that was the enemy. Just like when we were in the cold war with Russia/Soviet union, it wasn't us the people or the russian people that hated each other, it was the brainwash by both governments to keep us seperated, and disliking each other. That brainwash still exists, especially strong in the USA. Unlike popular beliefs in this country, we Americans are not better than other people accross the globe. We just have better living conditions, Which I'm sad to say are decreasing with every passing day.

lol wait what? you come onto a thread and give a reveiw of a film you havent even watched. the point about the conpsiracy theory was a poke at your lack of use of a proxy

but you want evidence that you like the old conspiracy theories well lets see

your first thought on this that it was nothing but fluffy propaganda I.E a conspiracy to dupe the masses about what went on in the war....

one of the parts that stood out the most to me was the iraqi people turning against al queda themselves, how they looked at the treatment of thier women and stood up against it.
it goes so much against alot of people here views on muslims are but i think even after watching that it still wont change their minds

I just watched a doco last night on a show called Four Corners here in Australia with the same title that went into great detail about the Sunni Shia Baghdad conflicts with interviews from US soldiers, leaders and generals. I found the whole thing hugely ironic in that after the US invasion the US, who had no plans to protect the population, handed the Shia power of police, who then used it to killed Sunni's at will. The Sunni in Baghdad were basically forced into a part of the city who then turned to Al Qaeda for help and retaliation, then when Al Qaeda started to get out of control with their ridiculous form of Islam the Sunni got fed up and looked to the US military for help.

I find the total lack of awareness by the US of the cultural and political landscape at the time laughable, they just hoped it would blow over while they were bunkered down, clearly didnt work out that way and they had to change strategy.

Should have been obvious but I see now those documentaries are basically the same thing, I just wasnt aware the BBC and ABC put together identical works, not really surprising though.

Were you there pal? I was. It pisses me off eerytime someone pops off something like this. Let me tell you this. While you were sitting in your safe home, drinking your favorit beverage and watching your favorite tv show, there were americans and other brave soldiers from varius country giving their lives for your safety. Those people we were and still are fighting plan every waking hour on how they can rid the world of every human being that doesnt believe what they believe. So until youve walked a mile in my shoes, keep your fucking mouth shut. Fuck

And we treated the civilians fairly. It was a dictatorship not a government by the way. I saw how the poor people lived. Kids sleeping in their own shit and piss. Woman having their hands cut off for alowing other men to see their unveiled face. Not much of a government. It was horrific. I still have nightmares after seeing those poor children. We spent half our time giving out toys and radios and food to the people of iraq. Something their so called government wouldn't do.

So kicking in doors in the middle of the night and dragging iraqis out of their beds kicking and screaminhg would be something you would be alright with here in the good old USA then? I'm sure their were some humanitarian monents, but the overall gist of the Iraqi "invasion" was to fuck over Iraqis. As you mentioned, they were considered less than human. the sad thing is, given the same living conditions as we have here, they would seem as human as us. Proof is in the fact that there are many Iraqis living here and I'm pretty sure their kids are not living in piss and shit. Yes Sadam was a dictator and treated his people badly, but ask most Iraqis and they would gladly take Sadam back if the American invasion and occupation would have never happened. We, The USA, fucked over that country so badly that it will never recover. There will be hundreds of thousands of cancers due to DU munitions that are lying all over the place. When the dust storms kick up the dust, millions of Iraqis have to breath that crap. I was in the Nam and we fucked over the citizens there, napalmed them, carpet bombed them, both north and south. I personally was not in a front line unit, but I saw the devestation first hand. Please don't tell me giving a few toys and candy bars makes us heros, thet's pure brainwash and bullshit.
