Good luck with your PC grow! They're a great learning experience. You can keep your plant inches away from the CFL bulbs, actually they prefer that. Wherever you can comfortably put your hand in proximity to the bulb the plant will thrive. That's where the sometimes daily struggle will come in, is constantly either lowering or heightening the plant or lights to stay in this sweet spot.

Looks like you're off to a good start with a pot the size of the case and planting it on one side so you can LST the length of the case.

Happy growing!

Thanks for the good vibes guys, definitely helps with the motivation!

So I just moved the whole planter box up another half inch or so to get the plant nice and close.

Will probably start training soon so I can keep the planter at this level, also I am planning on adding a 40w 2700k spectrum bulb right above where the plant is now as soon as I get another extension cord.

Im using fox farm ocean forest and Im probably gonna use some earthjuice nutes later on during flower
What kind of nutes do you need during flower? Still deciding on wether or not I'm going to use any nutes, biggest deciding factor is cost and risk of screwing my plant.

I think in a micro grow nutes aren't necessary until the roots take up the entire box (roots and foliage tend to be about the same size), and even then if you have good soil its almost not worth the potential troubles of overdoing it. So when the foliage is pretty densely covering the grow box I will likely do one watering with 1/8 strength grow and 1/3 strength flower. Then about 3 weeks before harvest I am planning on doing 1/4 strength flower only, then flushing.

Yeah I think I'm going to stay away from nutes for my first ever grow :p might get some for future ones but for now the budget is pretty tight and i don't have enough experience right now to mess with 'em. :p thanks for the info tho, will come in handy someday.

It's mostly the experienced grower who can make up a potting mix that will feed his plant the entire grow without additional feeding, nor without burning the plant. So I wouldn't rule them out...even if you end up using just general plant food, that's better than nothing.

If you're using soil with nutrients pre-mixed in, be careful with seedlings and young plants that don't get burned.

Thanks! So if i go out to buy soil, what's the stuff i should look for on the bag? If someone from the shop asks me what kind of plant I'm growing, what should I say? :p any kind of plant that resemble Cannabis in terms of nutes/soil use? Thanks a bunch (:

If there are any hydroponic stores near you I would really go check them out, the people there know what you're doing and tend to be amazingly helpful especially if you want to use the budget products they offer. When I went to the one by my place the dude I talked to told me to forgo the most expensive popular products and gave me the inside tips on what all the employees there use, which turned out to be like the second cheapest product for cloning.

Edit: sorry for lack of updates I have been out of town for almost a week now and I will be returning home tomorrow! posting pictures ASAP, im very excited to see how this one's doing now.

Ok so an update on this one, the purple kush seed didnt really fully germinate. it popped a small tail after 1 day but then that never grew, so I just germinated 3 DQ seeds of unknown gender and they have all popped and been planted. My plan is to do either a mini sea of green in this pc box unless 2 are males then I will plant in the full size pot and train that 1 plant.
I had the SAME THING happen to me... Any ideas as to why? has me fucking STUMPED! Maybe some strains don't do well with this method?

There are some seeds that just arent viable, especially with crosses of crosses of crosses etc. You have a chance of getting something great, but the variability is so high that you also have a chance of getting snicklefritz or even an unviable seed.
