**Second indoor, first time with CFL. Bagseed**

Hello everyone ,
I wasn't planning on making a grow journal but after reading so many it started to look pretty fun (plus I think I could use some advice). I did my first grow about 4.5 years ago with a 250 watt HPS on two clones, at the time I had some guidance from another grower friend and he hooked up the clones, light, soil, nutes so it was prety easy. They turned out really good and I got about an ounce and a half from the two (at the time I never tried MJ, so when they were done I turned them into two large brownies and gave it a try (mistake), way to strong lol).

I still don't smoke/consume MJ very often but this time I'm helping my mom out that just got her med. card, it's a little to expensive for her to go out and get it from other sources. I went and bought a 27"x18"x36" cab (had to do it somewhat small) and germinated some seeds we found in bag that she'd bought. Within 24 hours all five seeds were split open with a small tail sticking out. I went to the gardening shop (before I did very much reading on here) and asked them what I should get for soil for seedlings, they gave me organic Gro-Well seed starter mix. Even though I'm relatively inexperienced I'm thinking the soil was a bad choice, there is a lot of bark and no vermiculite in it at all. For light's I currently have 6x23W 6500k CFL's connected to 3 Y splitters about 3 fingers width above the plants. I have been using distilled water and only giving them about an inch of the bottom of a 18 ounce cup (the ones they are in) every 1.5-2.5 days, today was the only day water hasn't leaked out through the bottom holes. I have been poking my finger in a little to see when they feel dry but I am also trying to figure out just by the weight of the cups, I have read I need to add CalMag to the distilled, if so how much?

I let the seeds soak for another 12 hours and then planted them tail down about 3/8" under the soil and threw them under one bulb. This was on 01-27-12, and it took about two days till the first sprout came up (01-29-12) and the next four came up within a day or two after that. I haven't named any of them so let's go with A,B,C,F for now D died (the names of the pictures correspond to the letter). They seem to be growing very slow and two of them are yellowing and wilting some what, you can see it in the pictures, any ideas? No nutes in the soil and I'm just giving them the distilled. I just got my thermometer yesterday and the temps were between 77-88 degrees F. Humidity between 18-25% (I don't know how to get the humidity to go up (I placed a wet rag in there and it didn't seem to do anything). I have Mylar and a fan on there way, as soon as I get them I'm creating a passive intake (right now I keep the door cracked) and placing the fan in front of it to blow onto the plants, and I'm placing the computer fan in the ceiling for exhaust (pictured). In another week or two (someone can chime in on when I should) I am going to transplant them in to Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil in 1.5-2 gallon pots? I'll be getting the Fox Farm Trio, possibly just the one for flowering because the FFOF has the nutes in it that can last a few week to a month and I can't let them get very tall, so I'm thinking about flowering after about 5 weeks. Oh and all of them are just getting their second set of leaves (you can kinda see in the pics).

Go ahead and feel free to correct me or help out anywhere where I am going in the wrong direction. Now that my mom has her card (just got it two days ago), should we just get two clones and start over? Thanks!

Lights just came on, second leaves are starting to come in. I'll get pics in the morning. Any advice based off the pictures or stuff I have wrote? :leaf:

Here is some new pics it's day 8. The seem to be looking maybe a little better, maybe not lol. It may be because I'm keeping a better eye on the temps now that I have the thermometer. Is 6x23 watts to much for such young seedlings? I have been looking through other threads and it seems like people are using between 2-4 at such a young age. Any advice on the soil, I want to get them into some better stuff but it doesn't seem like it would be a good idea yet. Thanks! It seems like the naming convention is turning out to be more like grading ;)

if you want, keep these going.

you never know could turn out nice.....or they could be male or hermie genetics

since your mom is legal, you should just order (or go to local spot) and get some good genetics or buy a few clones.
you could always just get soem nice clones and flower them right away so you have soemthing soon. while you wait to see about the bagseed or wait while ordered seeds grow

Thanks for replying. Yeah I'm thinking about just having her get some nice clones. I have watered them with about 1 inch of straight distiller water (in the same cups they are in) every 1.5-2.5 days the do like droopy. I check about an inch under the soil and they seem pretty dry before i do more. I also have been trying to go off weight and when they are real light I do more water. Should I not water for a few days? They seem dry right now.

Hey there just found your thread :) Looks like your lighting should be good for veggin, looks like you are over watering a little maybe??? Can you get a hold of some RO water? It's sold at wally world and is labeled as "drinking water" my babies love it, and it's only like $.69 per gal. I'd say your right on track as when to transplant...just try to use 3 gal pots or larger, most regret not using a bigger pot :o NO no no no don't throw these away and start over :( Give it a shot...you NEVER know :) Good luck to you and your grow!

Is that purple on your plants? There is definately something wrong with your soil. Check the ph, maybe its off, I had the same issue and just transplanted... Get some fox farm ocean forest and try to pick up some advanced nutrients Revive to bring'em back

So do you think I should hold off a little longer on watering and see if they straighten out by themselves? I have plenty of gallons of drinking water, is that better than distilled? Once my mom get paid I'll have her got a PH tester but for now we don't have one. The only real reason I was thinking about going for some clones is because she needs something that will put her to sleep (very bad insomnia) and nausea. and because I have no idea where the seed came from I don't know if this stuff is ideal for her. The bag she got smelled really good and she felt good from it but it only helped her sleep one of the nights out of 3 that she tried it. and thanks for your help, I'll go for 3 gallon pots.

Are you talking about on the leaves or stem? The stem deff is a purple color and on two of the four plants there is a brown/purple color on the first set of leaves. Like I said in the above post I'll have my mom grab a PH tester when she gets paid and start testing all my PH (water/soil). Would the seedlings be fine to transplant into FFOF right now? If so could you explain briefly how to do the transplant I did it once four years ago. If I remember right have the soil just a little damp so it doesn't crumble everywhere, fill the pots with dirt and get the dirt moist, dig a hole, turn the plants upside down and place them into the hole, and then pack the sides around it (filling dirt in the pot up to about the first set of leaves?

Thanks, will do. Any opinions on whether or not I should get some clones that would fit what my mom needs rather than growing these seedlings from the bag. She needs something to help with sleep/nausea. I don't want to give up on these ones but I also wouldn't want to spend a lot of time/money on these ones if they don't suit her needs and the bag these came out of didn't help her a lot in that regard (she did however get pretty high)? :)

Yep I would! Personally my plants like the RO water better, the distilled is missing some important stuff I'm pretty sure but not 100%, I haven't heard of anyone using it, and I have heard of a lot of good stuff about RO water, otherwise known as "drinking water". I have managed to get by without a ph tester for my entire grow....(I know lucky right?) Hey...check this out.

"The first thing to remember when looking for a marijuana strain to help you sleep is that sativa based strains tend to give you a high – the last thing you want when you have sleep problems. Indica based strains, on the other hand, are great for relaxation, stress relief, and for an overall sense of calm and serenity.

There is one particular indica strain, Ingrid, which seems to be particularly helpful for non-sleepers.
Ingrid is a high-quality marijuana strain, which is becoming increasingly popular among medical marijuana patients. It’s quite amazing to look at – a light green that is almost neon. It is very potent and you won’t need much to help you towards a restful sleep."

I wanna get some of this for my Dad :) I'm his caregiver as he is battling through cancer and this strain seems like it would provide him with what he needs. Plus it looks absolutely out of this world!!!! :) I'm kinda in the same boat as you....I started with just 3 bagseeds and now look at me....5 weeks into my flower (all 3 females) :) Hope it ends up being something that will work for Dad!!! Most def. is going to be better than the shit you get off the streets (and cheaper too)! Good decision on the 3 gal pots ;)
Here to help if you need any :)

holy CRAP that is a GIANT picture!!!!!
Haha, yeah it is pretty big but it looks very nice!

I kind of want to start with clones if I do end up switching to a different type of plant, just so it is healthy right from the get go. I'm not sure if I would be able to find that one in the photo from the local caregivers here, but I will ask them for their recommendations and hopefully post back here before I make a decision. I also kind of wanted to try SCROG to take advantage of the CFL's if I get clones, or should I just stick with some LST for this time around? just a recap, definitely ask for an indica correct? BTW thanks for your posts, my mom has HEP C and she hasn't slept much over the last month, she hasn't tried MJ since she was 18 but I convinced her it would be a safe alternative to some of the junk the docs were trying to give her.

Def. a waaaaay better alternative and safer than most sleeping pill crap! I have done neither a scrog or an lst before so I can't really help you there. I know MidAmber is VERY good at lst-ing and if you decide to go that route he can certainly be a great resource ;) And yes, you def. want to get some indica, my dad likes the sativa as well as the indica (the sativa keeps his spirits up when he's down) so I would want to go with a indica/sativa hybrid But if your limited on space you wanna stick with a good indica...:) Hope to see you gettin your grow on for your Mom :) *HI MOM*

Yeah I'm not sure what route to go yet, to many decisions! I'll let her know you said hello :) I decided to switch out the cabs for a few reasons: more space, much easier to make it completely dark, easier to install fans, electrical outlets, etc (cardboard box, lol) because I'm rather limited with tools these days. Lenght x Width dimensions are about the same but it is roughly 5 feet tall.

Thanks for your help and wishing us the best! and yeah I thought it was a neat idea and it suits what we are doing right now pretty well because I don't have many tools. This one was actually from an electric convertible car lol so it is nearly 5 feet instead of 4 feet. I don't plan on growing them that tall but after reading all of these it seems like sometimes they can really grow when they start to flower!
