sealing ceiling tiles

heh that rhymed.
I have an office space with ceiling tiles. I want to seal it for smell and cooling. Anybody have any ideas or experience with this? The unit is actually separated by concrete walls even above the tiles but theres 10feet plus up there and id like to keep my ac/co2 in.

I was thinking plastic but cant figure how to just put it on the ceiling without it drooping like hell. Maybe just staple it to the tiles and ducttape the edges and seams?

My HVAC guy actually recommended putting silicon on each tile and basically glueing them down.

Other thought is the room in a room made out of panda. But it seems like a pain in the ass.

Tent could work but Id have to adjust a bunch of stuff and is the least optimal solution at this point.

I would not think that there would be a problem unless the air return is in the ceiling. Some spaces just have a grill in the ceiling and an air return above that. If the AC supply and return are in the room then the area above would be dead air, non conditioned space.

There may be an issue with moisture with a standard ceiling tile. Most drop ceiling tiles in moist places (kitchen, bath) are a drywall and vinyl kind of a deal and not that pressed "Dust".

I work construction and when I pop my head thru a ceiling I always try to figure out how to use all that extra space above..... how great would it be to grow above^

yea that was another kink. the ac and return are in the ceiling. fortunately its a separate unit just for this area. Ill probably throw a couple extra carbon filters in the room and call it good.

You can take the ceiling down (or leave it up) and put some 4x8 2" thick Styrofoam insulation on the ceiling. Seal the insulation with silicon (not acrylic) calk where the pieces come together. Hell do the walls and ceiling with the stuff. I did and it only cost like $250 - $300 and when I cool the room it stays cool longer and the heat doesn't escape.
