I doubt anyone is giving true contact/address information on a weed forum. Just sayin'
I'm sure a few give their personal info + I hope no1 has problems with their lively-hood over any plant/bean.

I'm legal + stay under plant count but I still don't give important information to anyone.
(A friend that doesn't grow is where my beans go + I send cash)

really the biggest security risk that happened was right here on this site. its much like the stealth shipping you get people here that post all the details for the world to see. google this problem and see how many links back to this site you see. this site is far from secure, it never has been. its on a american based server(look at this issue for yourself)
Ok...

well thats good that they did move. i never heard that they had. it was discussed when the site started that its was going to stay where it was when it started. i haven`t failed at anything. i`ll still stand behind everything i said, being wrong about the server i see as a good thing. if you chose to think that what has been said was not more of a risk thats your choice. i don`t think that a virtual world should be treated as anywhere near safe. there are steps you can take to make it as safe as you can. lets look at the original thread on this situation(not this thread), the first few post before it really started to roll. that was the same as a person in the real world running down the mail screaming the same thing, the problem grows from there. if you can`t see that then you might check the blinders your wearing.

You're an idiot. So, you avoid everything sony? How about Wal-mart? Visa, Mastercard? I am on identity protection because Vudu, owned by walmart had it's buildings broken into and hard drives stolen. Barnes and Noble, also TJ Maxx and Marshalls, 46 million customers info leaked. If you think this SoS incident was a big deal, maybe you should watch the news more. Maybe you should take a look into doing something else, because by opening your mouth, you only make you look stupid.
Keep you're name calling to your school and if you are not in school you should be. Nothing that Wally World or any of those other vendors could have LEO raiding you for an illegal activity and cause you to lose your freedom. If this does not worry you then just run an ad in your local paper telling everyone you grow and your address. You still would not be as exposed as this fiasco would have exposed you...world wide. You are comparing apples to Galaxies here.

As to the rest of your comments they merit no reply whatsoever. Find someone with lower intelligence to attempt to bait with your tomfoolery.

I use a vpn, exif delete and I employ data security measures as well.

I totally agree that these fools that show pictures of their packages once received and list details of the stealth are morons for sure.

Link to story about 650,000 peoples info from hundreds of US retailers lost.
Companies that have had credit info stolen: Bank of America, Citigroup, Pizza Hut, J.C. Penny, Macy's, T.D. Bank, Shnucks Supermarkets. And those are the ones I could find in just a couple of minutes of looking. Let's not forget the ones I listed previously. I'm sure the Govt. and other Authorities have better things to do than spend a bunch of money chasing down people who ordered seeds and might be growing a couple of plants. And besides, the way it sounds the info wasn't just there, you had to look for it and search for it by order number. So, before you all cry a river about how SoS needs to close, maybe you should look at other companies that have had worse leaks and see how you feel about them closing their doors. You can turn in all Playstation 3's and Sony audio and video equipment to me. PM me, and I will let you know what you can do with it.
Again apple to Galaxies...NONE OF THEM SELL ANYTHING THAT COULD MERIT LEO INTERCEPTION AND YOUR FREREDOM TO BE LOST.Your point again is moot and has nothing to do with the danger this occurrence has.

BTW I own no video game machines as I have plentiful gainful activities to spend my time with. My TVs are Samsung and my home theater is krell B&W and Nakamichi. I never have and never will own Sony anything. I am not into owning junk.

look you picked one part of what i said and it was wrong. i explained and admitted it. what part of that did you not understand. you have never looked at the point i was trying to make. you must be the troll type that has some weird need to try to make them self look big by trying to pick a small portion of something and try and make it bigger than it is. the fact is that as long as it is post in a public forum it is not safe for anyone in this community. is that so hard to understand. if you don`t think this is a public forum google it then google an invite only site and see whos post you can read. my whole point is if you don`t want it out for the world to see keep private. in this community word passes just as fast that way.:wall:

Well duh, this site gets crawled almost every second by search engines. I don't think anyone argues that point. If you post private info, you're a dumb ass. However, this is not about people being stupid on RIU, its about a seed company that allowed the addresses of customers to be publicly available for anyone with a computer. Seeds are illegal in many parts of the world, so having your address posted on the Net as a person who purchased them is not cool, and it in no way compares to this site. Such a silly comparison.

In any case, hopefully it won't turn out to be much of anything. But I will tell you this: when the exploit was available, all I had to do was type in "billing address site:seaofseeds.com". I was then presented with pages of links that had names, email addresses, phone numbers, and mailing addresses for many customers. Out of curiosity, I looked up several addresses in google maps, and matched them up with the names on the orders. All of this was available on google without ever going to the link for SoS (you couldn't anyway). I found addresses in many states where seeds and MJ possession are illegal.

Tj max and Walmart don't sell things in secret shipping methods in tshirts that can get you locked up in some states either so I have no fear of them. That my friend probably was to the best comparison. I absolutely do not agree with the current federal marijuana laws, and I am sure the company is apologetic but they knew that customers ordered stuff where it's wasn't legal and allowing that info to leak is scary and makes me question if they care about customers or just setting up shop to sell a lot of product. I will gladly pay a few more $ for excellent customer service from any company for any service.

My $0.02

@Jimmy

We did not know there was a flaw on our website and the same day we knew we shut the site down and worked very hard to clean the mess up, We went live 1 month later with a brand new site.
Sorry for jumping in :)

I understand it is a bad situation and I hate that it occurred. It there is nothing you can now say or do that will return trust to me of this operation. My "spidey" senses were tingling just from the timing of SOS's appearance during the turmoil going on here at riu. This is very serious business that could cost one's freedom. And if it occurred before there is no way anyone could be made to believe it will never happen again. Sure it may have costed you $ dearly. But that is nothing compared to what people stand to lose due to your mistake. Glad so glad I followed my gut feeling and avoided SOS. I will stick to that and I pray that everyone else does as well. Sorry but yes IMO your organization should look into doing something else and not this which can put people's lives literally in danger because you cannot hold up your end of security. Anyone with half a brain should see thus as well. Again apologies but IMO SOS should close and fade Into memory.
um, EM DID hold up his end of security...
he shut the site down immediately...where most people would have stayed open for the seasonal rush.
Sos hired someone to write the site and setup the vpn...and THEY are the ones that failed.
They have since rectified the error and if you dont want to order from them.... THEN DONT!!

but they've got my business!!

Last thing I'm worried about is cops. So what they see I ordered a few seeds. The fine I would get for growing is nothing compared to the thousands I would lose when my bank info is out for everyone to see. Everyone just made way to big a deal of this. Must say, you seem to have some taste in audio equipment. Though I am a Bang & Olufsen owner myself, I have always been interested in Checking out some Krell equipment. Wasn't familiar with B&W, but they look like some nice speakers. Haven't owned anything Nakamichi since the late 80's, but I think I had a lemon, was nothing but trouble, and that is why I switched to Bang & Olufsen. I have more than enough to keep me busy between farming and racing(try doing both of those in the summer), and raising a family that spends more time camping, tubing and 4 wheeling than they do at home, but I still like to play video games once in a while. Doesn't mean I don't have a life. Just means my mattress is like brand new after 7 years because I don't get much time to sleep.
And now I gotta squeeze in Taekwondo lessons for my 11 yr old daughter three days a week that is 50 miles away. See, not all people that like to play video games are losers that don't leave the house.
