Scrog overkill

I have a plant that's of kinda unknown age, since it was gifted to me as a large plant that was too big for a friends flower room. It has been vegging with me since January :)

i desided that a scrog was my only option, I've grown this strain before and loved it (northern lights x big bud) so I know what to expect. It's about chest high now where the branches hAve grown around the screen. The screen has filled in an looks perfect-about 4 -5 foot wide plant :)!!!
Due to its girth I've set 2 x 1000 hps over it. The truck is about the size of my wrist. Flipped it to flower the other day :)

anyone want to speculate on how big this bitch will get ? I'll post up some pics later when I can use something other then my phone. I have done scroggs just haven't pushed a plant so big before inside, anyone with experiance with large plants needing so much chime in on problems you had maintaining them.

my main concerns are about feeding it so iv been feeding it like a outdoor beast with granular all purpose tomato food (down to earth organics) and then my regular nuts on top of that, planted in a 25 gallon ish pot an totally locked in roots, growing into a bed of hydroton for endless root growth.

If it's ~2-3 Ft now I would say maybe 4-6 ft during flower...
Its had like a 3 month or longer veg, so it's way bigger ten that. Seein my post where I said some branches are up to my chest? I'm thinking about 7 ft tall and 8 wide I hope to add a pic tonight. The scrog screen is made from lashed together bamboo, branches at screen level are bigger around then the bamboo :)

If it's anything like the white widow x big bud, which I've taken 7 ounces off one plant, then get your chainsaw ready!
You're going to need to extend your screen possibly...I'm waiting for your pics..

Exciting though eh? ;)

I'm excited to see how this turns out. You're gonna have a lot of bud on hand my friend. I'd like to see some pics too. Subbed

hell yea bro! nice results on that ww bb, i have not grown that out but a friend of mine did and it was a yielder for him as well however he was not happy with the smoke idk why i dident care much it wasent special but it was still good pot. how did your bud turn out?

anyways i think this plant is great, last time i grew it i had it in #15 squat pots and pulled like 8 zips per plant an like 2 lbs of it total from a 4x4 tray an 4 plants =) this is a bigger foot print on the floor and a bigger canopy then that tray however it is still just one plant, meaning its harder for the one plant to pump up so many buds at least thats my theory. will be a fun learning experiance.

i actually planned the plant to out-grow the screen and up around it like a bowl shape. i think that with some branches growing this way i will get a few 1-2 foot colas then a million 6 inchers over the screen. one branch is about the size of my thumb where it excaped, it has about 4 feet of room to grow before it hit the ceiling and i can lean it if needed. its a 7 kw room so TONS of light bouncing around.302.jpg

Please tell me you're going to re pot her! Now that would be highly entertaining!

When you flipping her, or have you done so already?

Man, I wish I lived in your neighborhood...;)

since feb 1st I've been reducing the light by a few hours, by like valentines day they were down to 12/12 and in that transition. I don't care what anyone says, plants like a slow transition into flower and dumping them from lots of light down to 12/12. I used to do 24/0for veg then slam to 12/12, then I realized I hated dealing with the stunted growth for a week. Now it's like speed racer :)

anyways that's the final container, I'm using a method I like to call "half hydro" because the roots will (if they need to) grow out threw the bottem holes in that pot and into the hydroton and water below. Honestly this plant has so much root space it's unreal, of course I also have been using hydrozyme to break down old dead roots and provide food and space for new roots.

This plant needs a minimum of 2 gallons water a day right now, and I generally give it 2 gallons right after lights come on, then another 1-2 before lights go out.

Not being funny i dont see the point in changing the time down slow if your going leave her in that pot what a waste of time. After all whats a bag of soil going cost to fill that blue box up with soil fuck all bro and her roots would have do 100 percent better. But thats just me bro

I hear what your saying, honestly it was a very hard judgement call and I thought about it for a solid week between my girl.
Problems: Heavey ass plant- I couldn't lift it myself when putting it in the blue container , took 2 ppl to lift it straight up. Also it was already being trained into the screen, the yellow container and black tray was my to finish plan but it outgrew it. That means the screen would have to be broken down and the plant damaged, or about 4 people to transplant ( yes I think at least 3, just me and my girl could not) so it was all I could easily do. I have never had a indoor plant this large and Did not even think it would need something so big as the yellow-the pot before it was a #15 and those are huge IMO. Stepping all the way to that 45 gallon tote was unimaginable to me at the time. I'll admit if I could do it again I would skip the yellow contain and go straight to the tote! Maybe if this girl does well I will try that out with another one. But my next crops strain is different so it would be a future goal. (GFF winter 2013 monster grow???)

while yes I could cut out the sides of the yellow pot and add more dirt and the roots would grow into that, then my current system would fail because my "half hydro" requires the hydro ton is not covered and the water below stays only as runoff not muddy soup- the roots will form a solid mat under the pot and uptake both air and water, it's a interesting process actually.

Oh sorry I didn't even address what you said I only defended my container lol! I just feel turning the lights slowly makes better plants for me. I like the results

also I have other plants in the room. I just think that method works well for me, I tried every style the forum mentions including 2 days dark before flower
