Dig the holes now 2 foot by 3 foot and fill in your own mix of soil, cover with leaves and go back in the spring to plant. If it is a very dry summer you might have to carry in water.

The spot I've been using is getting developed. I used to walk to it ( long walk) from my house at night to plant, water, feed and harvest. The area I live has lots of dense forest but very few open area. I work for a University and after searching with Google Earth and not finding anywhere that looked safe I used satellite land cover data and found a sweet spot. It about 2 miles from the nearest road but accessible from a canoe (half mile from shore) south facing slope, young forest with a few open areas. I am looking for some strain to plant. I want to use a reliable Canadian bank and need something cheap for my poor ass. Anyone have suggestion for some low maintenance strains that finish around mid-september? Right now I am looking at Dutch Treat and Brenda's Skunk X NL from East Island Seed Co. Both about $50 for 10 and finish around Sept 15. Anyone have experience with these?

I read somewhere that instead of taping money to a tree, hang a compass up onto a branch in plain view. seeing money on a tree in the middle of nowhere seems like somethings up. this past year I used trail cams. that way I know when and who was there.

also use the winter to your advantage. after finding that perfect place deep into the woods and away from civilization I find it easiest to trek in all my soil and supplies with a toboggan and snow shoes. just make sure you do so before a big dump to cover your tracks

Yea, I'm waiting a few weeks after the new year before I go back again. My plot is also near a good fishing spot. When it warms up I was thinking of catching some fish, cleaning them, and throwing some scraps at the bottom of a few holes as fertilizer. Anyone ever use fish remains as a form a fertilizer?
