I have the same light (Scorpion Diablo) and I'm not having light stress problems but I did get a couple of buds burnt from being too close the the light - Its at it's maximum height and the plants still grew up to it.

What height are you running at?
.

Nope the height varies from 4 inches (not directly under the lights) to 14 inches. I grew from seed and have some variance in height.

It's not nearly as hot directly under the light as most other lights I've run. The Scorpion Diablo is just a great light.

That's pretty wild. Are you dimming the light at all?

I run the Blackbird at 22” @ 800-840 umoles canopy for my 3x3. The dimmer is actually only on the 3rd notch. I look for at least lateral leaf spread to tell me where to stop. 900 umole would be the most I feel comfortable with mine. Even tho I have power to spare , I don’t look to ever run 100%.

Even tho I have plenty of gas at the pedal doesn’t mean I need to air-fry them.

not to thread jack but would you mind elaborating on this? i dont really understand what you mean and now im curious

I run the SD but cannot comment as I have had all kinds of issues since I purchased the lamp.
Health issues have cost me multi grows since early this year, but hopefully I will be able to do a full run and take care of it.
I ran my SD @ 50 to 60% and 20 to 24 inches with no problems during veg, but went into flower about the time my health went south.
I will be starting another grow in early December, got friends making me some clones for that grow.
I got a new grow system at the same time I got the new lamp. I am running ebb and flow with the Active Aqua Grow Flow 5 gallon system. So not only health issues but a big learning curve for both the lamp and grow system.
It will all be ok once my health is better.
My year in a nutshell. Did a remodel and got a hernia. Had to do a cardio clearance because of my age and during those test they found I had carotid arteries on both sides of my neck, 85% on the right and 75% on the left. Did an angiogram and has minor blockage in my heart. Did the surgery on the right side in late May and the left side in early August. A few weeks into Sept. I had a heart attack and they found I had an artery off my heart that was 95% blocked, and they installed a stint and opened it up.
My cardiologist says he believes that since I did not have that blockage when he check my heart in May that after my second carotid artery surgery the increased blood flow broke some plaque free and it lodged in the artery. That surgery was in mid Sept and I am just now gaining strength back and hope to be fully recovered by early December.
Will follow this thread and hope to be able to add some pertinent conversation soon.

What do you mean by this? I just put a scorpion rspec far red in my flower tent and I'm running 480 watts at about 2 feet in a 5x5 and I'm trying to get it dialed in.
It was meant that when plants leaves stay lateral to the light strength - my “ non scientific “ approach to what plants fiind comfortable - your environment for them will dictate how much gas to press.

It’s always better to have more power on tap than to have a rig at max trying to get to that sweet spot.

It is always a balance of power to canopy distance.
