I have. I've only read the 11th and 12th books once, I read the others multiple times.

Jordancon has been going on since last year. It's a gathering of WoT fans where Harriet (Robert Jordan's wife), Brandon Sanderson, and some other people connected to WoT contribute to the festivities.

Dragonmount.com is a good fansite.

I just picked up Eye of the World to read yesterday. Haven't started yet but will soon. I've not heard much about them from people but I can just tell they are going to be amazingly epic.

I'm sure. The Mithgarian Works by Dennis L McKiernan is my favorite series to be sure. Ten or eleven good sized books.

You had about a decade head start on me. Sanderson is definitely not Jordan, but I do think they made a good decision by picking him. He gets Jordan and will tell his tale in a way many WoT fans will like, as he is a huge Wot fan himself. No one will ever tell the rest of the story the way Jordan would have.

no thats true but jordan supposedly had thousands upon thousands of pages written, differant story lines, and had everything pretty much decided when he passed. sanderson ive never heard of before now i quit reading fantasy with the exception of wot years ago. i read eye of the word in high school and im in my 30ies. id like to get into another series like that ill look into lukiens books he just posted. anyway i was so bummed when he died i thought that was it.

Have you read New Spring by Jordan?

He also wrote the Conan the Barbarian series. I haven't read them, but they must be good.

I don't know. In most books, I have a pretty good Idea of what will happen. I have no clue what Jordan's ending will be. If Nyneave has to go back to the Tower, then I doubt he'll go forge a kingdom elsewhere.

He was created by texan writer Robert E. Howard in 1932 via a series of fantasy stories sold to Weird Tales magazine. Maybe Jordan picked it up...

Did you know- H Beam Piper wrote the fuzzy sapiens first 2 novels before he passed. 2 different authors undertook to write the 3rd book. Both were good. Many years later a draft by Piper was discovered for the 3rd book and also published. 1 Trilogy finished by 3 different authors...

You're right. According to the Wikipedia page, Conan was picked up by Jordan and a slue of other writers after Robert E. Howard created him.

lukien are the mithgarian books a series one after another with no real ending in between? just curious? the wheel of time is like that once you start you cant finish, its great i like that kind of series.

I just finished reading "The name of the wind" by Patrick Rothfuss. I'm thinking dark harry potter. I wouldn't read this to children because while the gang rape in the alley is handled tastefully I wouldn't care to explain why the boy (not our hero) is sobbing to my 6 year old. I believe this is this authors premier novel and as such deserves great repect. I am a bit disappointed to discover that this is actualy a 722 page introduction to the story. It is obviously the first in a series. The story does not wrap up in any real manner and might as well end with "To be continued..." If you truely enjoy the written word for the flow and play of it then this is a great read. If your looking for a complete and satisfying story this is not it. So, woderfully written, doesn't wrap up well. I'll probably read the next one but not unless I can find a larger font than paperback...
