Hey all

so i am going to be starting an outdoor grow in feb, im looking for some strains that get big and have huge yields. Im legal and its in a secure location so im not worried about smell or height. what would be some good strains to look at. what are the tallest strains you guys have come across?

Sativa's wont be ready outdoors until near December right? Which, if that is the case, hope you are in a really warm area.

I grew an Island Sweet Skunk indoors that was a ten week finisher and a monster yielder. Definitely a sativa dominant phenotype, soaring, powerful high with a good body but no sleepy/stoniness. This was apparently a federation seedstock plant, so I don't know how close it is to what next generation has now.

Stinky motherfucker though. If you want something less stanky try a Jack Herer for a lower flowering time than a full tropical sativa. There's other faster flowering sativas (durban, cindy based strains) but they will generally be lower yielding than their longer flowering breathren.

well, i've only grown indoors, so i don't know what strains are going to give you the most yield in a tree, but here's a summary of my favorites qualities...

sativa seeds (nirvana) full moon (highland thai), is fucking bushy like mofo, takes it's sweet time flipping, refuses to sex in anything less than 2 gallons, hasn't had it's hermie traits bred out, and if you cut it down at the start of flowering for turning hermie, you'll mostly just get a potent stone, BUT that authentic tutti fruity (juicy fruit gum etc.) flavor is awesome and a member here that's finished it says it does live up to the trippy reputation. other breeders use meao & koh chang thais that don't have the tutti fruity flavor of real highland thai and they're the only source i know for it. if i could do an outdoors grow like you, THAT would be one of my first choices.

sweet haze, stretchy, and maybe not a 1,000 bud oak tree, but the buds are chunky and sticky with an extra fruity flavor, and it finishes in just 9 weeks. it's probably more of an indoor strain where you'd get more trippiness out of something like ace's old timer's (purple) haze. i'd like to try and grow that some day too, but for faster turnaround, sweet haze is nice.

holy smokes' malawi gold is way less fussy than highland thai and flips quickly. there's a grow report on it from down under somewhere. i don't know how it compares to ace's version, but if you buy it at attitude, you can score 2 more of it as freebies along with 2 each of mozambique (similar to durban) poison and mulanje gold. man, i'd love to see a proper shootout comparing those 3 against some others! i had to cut mine down early when it got hot spot burnt from forgetting to turn my fan on, but at the 30 day mark, the buzz was already very nice, though not too trippy yet.

high quality seeds haze x skunk. not the trippiest strain, indoors at least, maybe, but under a 400w halide, it's tops were crazy potent putting even columbian gold to shame with no stone beyong lead eye at high doses or even after a month! very motivational and med quality. i lost 10+ pounds on it in just a month by ignoring hunger pangs as well as kicked my 6 pack of red dog a night habit on it. i bet you could get nice yield out of that 12 week strain as it has a single bud every couple inches of it's stretchy side shoots. it's very resinous too. it has a less than delicious cigar wrapper taste like some hazes apparently have, but blunt lovers would get off on that, and it's nowhere near as nasty as catpiss or some other flavors.

mekong haze... supposed to be one of the trippiest strains in existence. it's cheap, but get a heating mat if you decide to try it as 2 of us couldn't get it to pop in colder rooms in winter. it has tiny beans. i'd like to try it again for breeding when i get more ambitious and grow beyond more indoor practical hybrids like jack.

gage green has columbian gold and black and a solid rep. according to him, the goldis trippier, but he likes the black better as it's smoother.

gage green, ace, holy smokes, world of seeds & cannabiogen are some of the best sources for landrace genetics. ace's golden tiger is in one member's top 2, and another REALLY loves their red haired strawberry panama.

please do share your results and compare whatever you grow with extra attention to SMOKE REPORTING puhlease! i only care about how a strain smokes.

if it was my grow, i'd go with
full moon
old timer's haze
mekong haze
columbian gold
malawi gold (+ mozambique & mulanje)
&
panama

oh yeah... if you want a crazy energetic and euphoric strain, kali mist is pretty distinctive too, but just try sitting still on it.

as always... (NOW), using my trademark lie busting "columbian gold" backdrop. i'm proudest of the closeup of fruity booty 1.0 (super cali haze x C99). it was really sticky and fairly fruity with a no worse than average generic haze high though not as trippy as sweet haze and jack's cleaner 2.

Hey dude, finished up some tga chernobyl and delta 9 fruit of the gods outdoors this fall, both are slightly susceptable to mold but can produce well especially the fog, recommend trying her once if you like pomegranate taste and a very activating motivatiinal high, perfect wake and bake or study weed. Chernobyl on the other hand is more suitable for chillin and makes some top notch lemon limey hash. The f.o.g is alotlike jack herer, grows faster in veg and produces similar high yielding phenotypes, close to 11-12 week flower time. Chernobyl takes about 9 weeks and begins flowering rather quickly in the season.

When you complete a grow and actually dry/cure your weed, you might actually have something worth talking about.
Smoking shit 4 weeks into flowering and calling it a grow is a joke.

Id also like to note that i grew my stuff in a very damp and somewhat shitty outdoor season and yet the girlies still performed well with 0 herms

Ive done a couple of Rare Dankness' sativa crosses (Ghost train haze and karma bitch),they were great. Anything with their Nevilles Wreck father would grow some monsters outdoors. I never had any budrot issues with them indoors even with huge buds and long flowering times so I think they're pretty tough.

GTFO, you've been exposed here numerous times for claiming to have grown every strain known to man.

And Malawi is NOT a realistic possibility for any in-grounds, even trying it in south Florida would be pushing it.

Hey all thanks for the input, some great info in here. I live in so cal in the riverside area, so it is relatively warm through the year, late nov, dec, early jan are the only times i would really worry about plants dieing due to frost but i dont have any plants outside at that time anyways. Although i must say ive been tempted to try some of the more weather tolerable autos to see how they would grow outdoors during those months, id be nice to be able to have a crop all year round here without having to do indoor. here are the strains im thinking of using:

moby dick(grow to 3 m tall and a harvest of up to 1500 grams in optimal conditions)

kc33(around 900 gr. per plant)

kc42(an average outside yield is unbelievably high around 1300 gr.of dried product per plant)

brains damage(900 gr. from outdoor)

danky doodle(When grown outside, Danky Doodle can reach her maximum height, up to 4m)

TNR(up to 1000 grs per plant)

kc39(outside yield makes up to 1000 gr. of dried product per plant)

queen#1(seed was reaaly cheap so figured id give it a try)

columbian gold(trying it for novilty)

one of the biggest decisions im trying to make right now is to get reg or fem seeds. i read in one of the grow faqs here if you pollinate your plant, those seeds will be acclimated to your climate and those seeds will provide plants with bigger more potent buds then they would otherwise. And if this is true i would like to have a male for each one also that i could grow separate and just pollinate like a branch on each female plant to get seeds for each one. The freebies i got have some pretty nice seeds and alot of them are award winners so i may try to do a couple indoors just so i can make them as good as possible. Of course i wont be able to do all of the freebies, just like 2 or 3 so out of those choices what would be your favorites, just as far as smoke gos, wouldn't be too worried about yields on those ones

^Well I think they mean over time. Generations grown in an environment will gradually adapt to the environment.
I could be wrong, but I think it takes more than just one pollenation for a strain to adapt.

oh no... can't be tasting pommegranate! blech! most berries other than strawberries, grapes and sometimes cherry, especially maraschino rub me the wrong way. i don't like bitter fruits at all: raspberry, cranberry, blackberry, blueberry, pommegranate, grapefruit and even peaches are all nasty to me. i go more for orange, lemon, melon, pineapple, coconut & banana as far as fruits go. i especially loving chewing raw lemons and watching people cringe.

the next TGA strains i'm likely to try are the third dimension and kaboom and maybe jillybean some days. there's a strain for almost every taste there. i just wish two of the best smoking ones... agent orange and jack the ripper weren't annoying celebrations of murder in name. i just can't go for that... nooooo... no can do.

i hope at least one of my last 2 jack's cleaner 2s are female, even better, one of each. one of the three i bought didn't want to pop.

the pics don't lie... i've grown every strain i say i have, and if i never budded a plant, i say i took leaflet trim which isn't shabby, and don't go talking shit about that as it's obvious you've never taken early trim off a plant, not a fan leaf, just a starter. it gets the job done and with some strains can be downright nice and almost always more of a high than street beasters. at least i openly admit whatever. i've got nothing to hide here, but always changing the subject proves you know better than to stick with the topic... namely, i grow gear that gets you high 90% of the time or more, and yeah, i'd rather take leaflet trim off that than smoke ANY of the stony bullshit greedy cash crappers sell ANY DAY, but even mexican brick is better than that shit. that's because i only care about the BUZZ and not what a plant looks or even tastes like.

a mild high beats the shit out of the most potent stone. stoned is to be avoided at all costs.

saying i never grew something because it was harvested early is comparing apples and oranges and implies i need anyone's approval to do whatever the fuck i want in my room. the fact remains, i've gotten a fair amount of nice bud out of EVERY grow i've done since 2011 and have seeds that come from plants knocked up by joey weed C99 in 2011 and JW C99 x A11 in 2012 with the middle grow having a few beans pollinated by either C99 or possibly even that thai hermie. 3 for 3... no more leaf smoking except for male plants and after the bud is gone.

i'm taking both neighbors and shitty dealers out of the equation next and will do a full SCROG with at least malawi gold, haze skunk, sweet haze, jack's cleaner 2, sativa trans-love and buddha's sister unless some beans don't pop. you can talk all the shit you want about me, but anyone that likes getting high as much as me would love any of those strains except buddha which i'm breeding with malawi for flavor.

They mean over time, but it can happen pretty quickly (relatively speaking, a few generations).
