Now I don't think I had heat problems with my solution. My meter just read over a hundred degrees when the water is cool to the touch. Also stuck the meter in a glass of ice water and it sat at 85. I seen the low battery light is on so I need new batteries. Either way I'll be able to control the water temp. better and it made the room brighter.

It's also my ppm meter and I just added and adjusted the other day so I hope my ppm isn't wrong. Noticed a little burning on the more branchy, smaller of the bunch but not much on others. Still ran it lower than usual, well according to the meter.

Sorry to throw a general noob question in your journal here, but I was under the impression mylar on the bottom level isn't a help at all, any light reflected at that level isn't going to be beneficial. Was I given bad info?

Looks good to me though, I'm curious to see how much it helps with your temps vs the white tablecloth you used earlier.

Probably not, I could see how it wouldn't help because it only reflects to the under side of the leaf. That would make sense. However, it did increase the overall brightness of the room a bit so with all the mylar in my room it could in turn reflect a little bit more light to the top side or even to the inner parts of the plants. Looking at my room before and after, I think it will help.

Since you brought that up I remember that mylar is a very good heat barrier, so even if it didn't help with more light for the plant, I imagine it would help block the heat. Didn't think of that when I did it but funny how things work out.

If it did create any noticeable problems I will remove it. But ya, the water temp. was my main concern even though I didn't have any problems when I thought I did, I'm sure it will come in handy when I do have water temp. problems in the summer.

I try not to go overboard with ideas so if I do something that seems stupid just let me know lol

Day 21 of Bloom(12/12) Update

Seems to be budding a little slower than most other strains I’ve grown, sort of expected it with the longer bloom length of 11-13 weeks.

Trimmed about 1/5 to 1/6 of the leaves off each plant excluding the tiny and smaller ones.

Bumped ppm of nutes up a bit but still running ppm around 800-900, doesn’t like heavy nutes at all.

All 4:

Plant #3:

Plant #7:

Plant #8:

around week 8 on my sannie's jack pheno starts to explode into easily some of the biggest buds i have ever seen, and with a better density than almost any other sativa i have grown. sannie has done a crazy good job on this strain.

Nice to hear, thanks for the info. I've noticed they are quite the sleeper at the moment as far as bud growth but I'm liking the trichome production. Three of the four seem to be the same pheno with only 2-3 inches in between the two or three top nodes and look to be growing more like a indica. But the fourth, which has the smallest buds at the moment is reaching quite a bit more than the others and has about 5 or 6 inches in between the top nodes so I think this one is the heavy Sativa Pheno. Liking what I'm seeing so far.

Well, I went in my room last night and noticed the bulb was dimmer than it should. It's been used for a year total and it's the original bulb so I'm sure it's due for a new and better one. I was going to replace it after this grow but it looks like I'll have to do it ASAP. Any suggestions on a brand of 1000 watt HPS bulbs?

Day 35 of Bloom(12/12):

Going to replace my 1000 watt HPS bulb ASAP, getting dimmer every day. Leafs have stopped growing in size also. Don't want it to hurt by harvest weight.

Welcome to RIU and thanks for taking a look. I'm loving the strain, at this point I would say about a 8.5 out of 10 on trichome production and a strong 9 out of 10 on smell, which is a spicey lemon smell. I'm more interested in the buzz, looking for a nice sativa head high. I think with my light being dimmer than usual it is going to hurt the harvest cause I just ordered the new bulb and it is a week plus out so we'll see. Although I would say it is not a strain made for hydro that's for sure, takes a while to root and needs to be veg.'d longer than most strains in hydro. Not to mention all but one didn't stretch like they were suppose to. I'm going to keep a mom and going to do another run next fall when I replace two of my buckets with 3 organic pot's. I want to do a side by side between a custom super soil recipe with spike and layer method and hydroponics. I'm loving my hydro but I am interested to see the difference in taste and hopefully get the best of both worlds.

Hey man, im in a same boat like you are : ) I like how you set up your PPM chart to feed them with EC 1.5-1.6 at max since i was also thinking about nutrients and how much to give them and i know they take much less nutrients then other standard hybrids and they are easy to burn up. did you add cal mag to EC 0.3 even when they are seedlings ? Im also using RO water but first few waterings i gave pure RO and now i started to give 0.1 EC with only calmag still no nutes. its day 6 since sprouted : ) When i say we are in the same boat means im also looking for a nice mother plant to keep for quite some time and i will be picking on pheno thet finish on 11 weeks and gives best yield and good bud to leaf ratio. here is pic of my heroes : ) there are also 5 blue santa seeds in group picture but jacks are smaller ones since they germinated 2 days later. I hope we both end up winers with this strain and end up with perfect exceptional mother plant thet will produce finest Jack Herer buds in future

I start off with about .15-.2 EC(using .7 conversion) with my seedlings of just cal/mag in distilled water. I'm sure anywhere from .1-.2 EC will work out fine. Those babies are looking great, I started mine in root riot cubes for the first time in a humidome and ended up leaving them in there too long, killing 2, mutating 2 and stunting the rest for a few days but yet got 4 nice females from the 6 not dead and non-mutated ones. I'm stoked that I got 2 different distinct phenos, I like the bud structure of the 3 but the one is just growing more like a Sativa should which makes me think the buzz will be more like a Sativa than the rest which is what I am looking for. I don't know if it's just me or not but it also looks like it is producing more trichomes than the rest. I will tell you one thing, the smell is top notch like Jack is suppose to be, might have to bump that smell rating up to 9.5 out of 10 by the time harvest comes around. Just had a fellow grower smell the buds and all he could do was smile and smirk, straight lemon funk man, no doubt. Good luck with your grow!

Sounds fantastic, pictures look incredible. Going to try to order some of these seeds soon.

I've read through everything in your journal, and from page 1 it looks like your setup is 4 plants flowering now. Curious why the plants are labeled "2, 8, 7, 3".

It's hard for me to tell in the pictures, roughly how tall would you say they are at this point? Next week when you take photos, could post a picture with more of an overview of the room if it's not a hassle? Would like to see the room layout and space you have to work in at this stage in growth.

I like his plants overall also, very healthy and very nice bud production has started and the best part should just start soon.

I understand thet you are looking for this Sativa pheno with energetic cerebral high, thet should be plant with longest flower time and most sativa traits. I am also very curious to see how much time will take take to finish flower minimum and maximum. Along with thet Plants should have really nice bud production with thet incredible Jack Herer taste and smell, Alot of crystals with very high THC %. Also bud structure should be solid and fine, nothing like puffy but real solid buds.

The plants are labeled those numbers because I started with 8 plants from seed(had 10 seeds but 2 died) and numbered them all 1-8 so when I took clones of each, I can label the clones with what number plant they are from. Two of them were males, say 1 and 4, and 5 and 6 were mutated females that I got rid of because I only have 4 spots. About the height, I'd say the 3 are about 2-2.5 feet high at their highest and the other one is about 2.5 ft - 3 ft at it's highest, but keep in mind I was tying and pulling down branches that would take off above the rest. Also the one that really stretched I had to criss-cross branches and tie them down quite a bit to keep them relatively close to the other plants height. I'll take a couple pics. for you soon. Though it is hard to get a full view of the room and plants, the amount of mylar in the room makes it difficult.

Thanks for the compliments, they are definitely the healthiest crop I've grown yet. Had problems in the past with burning them with the light and nutes but now that I'm not growing in a attic or a closet, I won't have those problems unless I'm lazy. There are a few things I regret this grow, not using a scrog, because if you notice, there are no branches in the center of the room where the light shines the most, even with it on a track. I also regret not buying a new bulb before this crop. It has gotten way dimmer than it should be and I think it will hurt my harvest weight, stupid mistake on my part. But ya, that same grower who loves the smell of these buds also mentioned how he never gets as dense of buds as what these are. Exactly like you said it, no puffy just real solid buds. As far as the harvest time, I have a scope and because this is a mostly Sativa strain I'll be chopping whenever each one has trichomes mostly cloudy with as far under 10 % amber I can get as long as there aren't many clear ones. I'm guessing 11-12 weeks on the 3 plants and 12-14 weeks on the 1. We'll see.

Here's the pictures. It's hard for me to take further back pictures while covering the light so this is the best I could get to show the height of the plants. It would be near impossible for me to get a pic. that included the taller plant, which is the one kitty corner from where I took the pics. Remember, strains grow differently and my old NL strain is usually 3-4 feet about now even using LST. I also planned on this strain taking off because it is suppose to be quite the stretcher but it hasn't happened besides the one plant. IDK if it's cause it's not a hydro style strain or because of my bulb being dim or what.
