Putting some seedlings into the ground in the next couple weeks and the soil in my area is mostly sandy.

Lookin for some suggestions from those with experience with arid, sandy guerilla cultivation.

So far I've got Sphagnum peat and Worm Castings on the list along with some organic ferts.

Any Info will help, thanks.

Use coco pyth, perlite and plastic line your holes

Also u wanna put a bit of lime and Epsom salts also use some old animal manure coz its cheap/free and adds micro nutes and nitrogen in your mix and use mulch onto to keep your holes moist, dig your holes 1m wide by 60cm deep and you will have more water retention and big healthy plants.

And most importantly have fun and listen to what your plants are telling you

Here are some advice that I found after Googling your ?. Most sites say the same thing.
Organic matter, such as compost, manure, grass clippings, leaf mold, and even hay and chopped leaves, acts like a sponge in sandy soils. While water runs right through the sand particles, organic matter soaks it right up. You will need to add at least four to six inches of organic matter and then dig it very well into the top six to eight inches of soil.

Thanks guys. I was thinking about the contractor bag set-up but don't know about the roots being confined. I know 50 gallons is a lot but i would like to go for some trees this year. Can i modify bags? thats why i was thinking just the organic matter dug in there real nice.

They say contractor bags get to hot, try landscapers fabrics and make them to size. I think there is a thread around here someplace on how to make them.

I don't see how the fabric will keep the water and nutrients from leeching out. They are meant to prevent weeds from growing up out of stones and between plants in a garden where the bag idea will keep the nutrients and water in the confined hole. I can see though how the fabric laid over the soil would prevent groundwater from evaporating. I could be wrong, and if i am let me know.
