Sample Bud

I want to take a sample bud but from reports have seen it will taste bad... I will harvest next weekend so I just will take a popcorn bud to smoke till there. I don't mind if it takes a couple of hours to dry so what should I do? Place it in the oven at a low temp for 2 or 3 hours?

From what I've read 10 minutes in the over at about 200 degrees, should dry a bud out completely. But it will be harsh and taste like crap. Really the only way to test your buds while they are growing is to have multiple plants of the same type growing at different stages.
You could try the microwave, put a bud in for 20-30 seconds at a time for 1-3 minutes. But it will still be pretty crap tasting.

put it in a paper bag behind your lap top or computer or tv somwere hot and it takes a day or two and still tast like shit.......way better than microwaving or oven-afying your weed lol

and 200 will burn all the tch off......................i think it start to deteriorate the tch at 140 degrees not sure tho

put it on top of your ballast if you have one.

TCH doesn't burn off till about 300 degrees F. I've never dried via this method but I have made plenty of potent edibles in brownies at 200deg.

I'd also suggest vaporizing fresh bud if you have the means. I've had good results doing that when i'm feeling impatient.

This is probably the best way to keep the taste and potency up. Don't even need to dry

yes it dose degrade over 150. when you cook with it it compleatly different the thc becomes active with heat.......thats why if you just eat a nug it dosent do shit once you heat it up when you cook with it it becomes active..............please dont give bad advice 300 degrees to quick dry budz if nutts..........DONT GO OVER 140 google it if you think im wrong....dont use an oven at all if my opinion counts

Never said 300 degrees...
I said 200 which is a little high ill give you that, 150-175 is where you should aim for, but keep a close eye on the buds and check on them

ok w.e your right go ahead put them 25 degrees higher just to push the envalope lol orrrrrrrrrrrr just dont go over 150 id keep them at 125 just in case. Your allready speeding somthing up that should take 3 weeks why rush more shit just put them in a george forman for that set that bitch to high

It has nothing to do with heat, your stomach cannot digest THC unless it is bound to something it can digest - like a fat or alcohol. You cannot just eat straight buds because the THC cannot diffuse through the barrier of the small intestine on it's own, but lipids can be brought through via diffusion, and if THC is bound to it then it tags along for the ride. This is why it takes so long to feel the effects of eating, because it takes a long time to hit the blood stream.

I should correct myself slightly, some THC will be absorbed on it's own through the small intestine, but it has a very low bio availability. The fat will enhance the absorption of the THC, because the whole small intestine can diffuse fats. With the pill, the can tailor the amount of the synthetic in each pill to this bio availability to get the desired amount into the blood.

In either case, THC does not become 'activated' by heat.. if anything heat causes it to break down chemically. And that begins at 270F IIRC.

To make thc pills you first put the weed in grain alcohol or isopropyl 99% alcohol the THC is moved to this, when you dehydrate this you will be left with a resin coating that can be scraped up and rolled into a pill shape and capsuled.
When ingested your body can absorb the minute traces of the alcohol you used with the THC still in them, allowing you to get high.

Never tried this but I have made baked goods with Isopropyl alcohol and it is the same theory
