Sagging leaves.....

So, this is my second grow. First was CFL and I have upgraded to a 400w MH/HPS system.

The plants are doing extremely well compared to my first grow, but I am noticing that the leaves are sagging quite a bit. In the morning they look more "perky" but by the end of the day they are all sagging.

Is this a sign of too much heat? Not enough water?....I am confused.

I am trying to be mindful of my watering to make sure that I am not over watering and with being on the FoxFarm line of products (Grow Big and Big Bloom)....I don't wanna burn them or over water them.

Any suggestions??

I love this site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sits at 75-76 during the day and probably 68 at night. I use a humidifier every once and a while when I notice it gets dry in there. I have a temp monitor, but not a humidity monitor.

That leaves overwatering or underwatering. When do you water?

Could also be a nutrient problem... like the soil is a bit too hot.

Yeah but what method do you use to determine if its time to water? I like to pick the pot up, and if it feels 'light', then it's time to stick my finger down into the soil and see if its just moist 2-3 inches down. Time to water. Having plenty of drainage holes helps avoid overwatering as well.

I pretty much do the same method. I lift them and see if what the weight is...if it is light, I water...heavy, I do not. I also use the finger method. ;)

Should I just try and increase the water and see what happens? Poke a couple more holes and see what happens? I also have a one inch layer of Perlite in the bottom of each pot to assist in drainage.

What is less harmful. Not enough water or too much water?

I'm about that big right now and I haven't watered in 8 days. Plan on needing to water in a couple days but waiting for the leaves to tell me its time. If the problem is overwater sagging then it should perk back up in 3-5 days if you don't water again.... then wait till they start sagging again till you water. Less harmful is less water not more.

Too much water is less harmful but only if you have good drainage. (25% perlite mixed in with soil and a good inch of perlite on the bottom. Big, wide drainage holes on bottom and sides (this also provides more CO2 to the roots)). It is NOT good to have your roots submerged because of poor drainage in the soil, so if that was the case I would say water not enough so the roots can at least breathe.

Nice!

Thanks for the tips. I think I am going to just let them chill and see what happens. It seems it will be easier to revive them from a "dry" spell instead of a soggy mess.

Love this place!
