Safe to put plants in 24h darkness after 12 days of 12/12?

This is my 4th grow, small tent with 250w hps, 8 plants sog style.
Plants grown from seed, repotted after 3 weeks and put under 12/12.
My problem this time is that i didnt put plants in 24h darkness before 12/12. I had to go away for a couple of days so i just started 12/12.
In my previous grows, after plants have been in darkness for 24-36h, flowering has normally started after 2-3 days.
Im now in day 12 of 12/12, with only two plants showing preflowers and they are growing way to big for my tent.
Is it safe to put them in 24h darkness at this stage, or should I just wait and maybe get rid of some plants? Thanks for replies.

I have never done the dark period. Just keep on Rollin, you'll be fine

all you need are 12 hours of darkness...a plant does not get 24 hours of darkness in nature...people do it before harvest to plump up buds, but other than that I dont see the need...jmo

u may end up with a few hermi that way which look like little bananas

Two things with this statement...

First we don't want to grow out plant like nature does. We can do better. Have you ever seen wild cannabis? Not very good. We ARE god to these plants. Don't ever not do something because it doesn't happen in nature. That's a bad way to grow. There are plent factors that we have made better that nature.

Secondly, we do not do a dark period at the end to "plump the buds" it is done to give a last push in trich production. Not to swell the buds. Bus's need light to grow. Trichs don't. In fact light deteriorates them.

i wouldnt turn the light off once you have it on a set schedule stressing can occur and can turn a whole crop bad.

I would not do that given where you are at now! Look into some different Bloom Nuets, IF I want a quick blow up I'll take 3 good bloom ingnitors and run them at the same time but run them at 33%. for example BIG BUD, HAMMER HEAD, & HYDROPLEX (or KUSHIE KUSH). Thats if youre in Hydro, I dont know if I caught if you were in Soil or Hydro? I went straight from veg to 12/12 and it took a few more days longer to see preflowers but worked out just fine. Do you do 2/3 days of darkness right before harvest to? I'm thinking about doing that in my current run, maybe 2 days of full darkness before I harvest. GL with the grow!
