this is my first attempt at the indoor grow. i am using a home made areoponics system.

i am starting with bag seeds for a good freind he saved from collage graduation (est.2000).

i take the seeds to water glass and get the sinkers. 12 go into the germination tank wraped in a papertowl.9 spout.

i will be using rockwool cubes for the rooting stage. i soak the rockwool cubes in a 5 gal bucket with ph 5.5 balanced water for 3 days, checking ph daily and shaking out the water from the cubes after the water ph is correct (5.8 then putting them back. i start with ph at 5.5 the first 2 days so to lower the cubes ph to 5.8.

next post will be with pics of the system i built.

to build the aeropots,I will be starting with:
6 -18 gal. storage totes
1/2 pvc tubing
silicone caulk

36-180, 8-360 sprayer heads (6-180 and 2-360 sparayer heads per tote.) i think they are #5's (yellow)
4-1 ft bubble sticks
2-4 inch circle bubble pods

6-396 gph water pumps
3- dual outlet air pumps
24-6 inch net pots (6 per tote)
4- 8 inch net pots (2 per tote)
50 lb. bag of hydroton
4- 5 gal water jugs
PH up and PH down ,potable (not from the fish store, but from a hydroponics store)

for the lighting:

3- cheap timers
3-surge protected 6 plug outlets
40- ft of chain( holds up to 65 lbs.)
6 -ceiling hooks
2 -packs of chain hooks
4- 4ft 2 bulb per ballest flouesent shop lights.
8- sunlight color 40w tube flouresent bulbs
2-shop dome light fixtures with clamp
1-42 watt spiral cfl
1-14 watt cool white spiral fl bulb
2- 12x12 led panels 350 bulb (200 red-150 blue ,each panel)

for the nutes:
tetraflora recipe for sucess kit
(thrive red,thrive green,root 66,awsome blossom,sugar daddy,bc grow,bc boost,bc bloom,magicali.

so after the seeds are popped i put them in the rockwool and let the grow in the the germination/cloneing tray with clear lid and a glass of water in it because the humidity is very low here., till the roots are strong enough for the aero pots and nutes. (about 10-15 days)

i put the well rooted plants in the net pots gently filling around the rockwool cube with hydroton, making the rockwool low enough so not to get much light and covering the the stems with pot covers.

i add the nutes mixture (root 66 and sugar daddy) only using 3/4 the recemended amount. (so not to shock the roots)and spraying thrive green mixture on leaves once..
then checking the ph so it is 5.8 and checking it everyday.
i must have added ph down almost everyday of the rooting period only adding a little at a time,so not to spike the ph level
to low.
they will stay in this mix till i am satisfied with the root development in the net pots (about 10 day

s)

then i cut panda film to fit over the tote lid to refect light and keep any other light out of the net pots.

sorry about the pic size!! i working on it...:eyesmoke:

i forgot to mention i lined the walls with panda film and bought 24 -6inch and 4-8 inch net pot covers. also 2 thermometer strips,1 for clone tray and 1 attached to the panda film on the wall. and bought a dual 8 inch window fan.

i have put cardboard over the windows to control light and give the room a steady tep. (room temp will be from 76-80 degrees)

after 10 days in areoponics and the rooting mix. it time to change to the veg state. so i use 3/4 strenth mix for the veg. boost, sugar daddy, thrive red, grow and magicali.
washing out the tote well. and quickly so that the roots are not distured too long and don't see to much light. then the feed on those nutes for the next 7-10 days. getting a mist of ph 5.8 balanced water every 4 hours or so.

ok so these 6 are my best plants to date 6 unknown seeds from a freind are very healthy. 2 were discarded because of deformities and didn't want to waste time tring to figure out what is wrong so they got tossed in mulch pile.

these 6 remaining are now all in the same tote now and have been in veg statge 1 week. they are doing well so i will not change nutes yet,but as soon as i see a change in growth or they get to 10 days i will change nutes then.

So when using the 1in rockwool cubes did you just put the clone in the cube and bury it in the clay beads in the aero? Or did you use a tray and dome for a week or so until you saw roots then transported to the aero?

i used root tech clone gel and went right into the rockwool (ph bal. 5.8 ) then into a in-closed tray. then i put the tray on top of 1 of my flouresent light ballest for warmth (temp about 85 degrees, till i had good root development about 10 days.
then in the clay beads and in the aero pot. using root 66 and thrive red. for two weeks. then chaging water to growth mix.

i will be updating soon with pics of a transplant for a mother plant.

Update: lights are on 24/0 cycle
Transplant and new nutes for the transplants.
day 9 of veg stage.

here is the largest bag seed plant and the clone from outdoors. they go into the 8 inch net pots for their final destination. i am hoping the bag seed ,the larger one is a female..time will tell after it is big enough to take a clone. i will sex it with 12/12 lights after roots are developed.as you can see in background, i am out of panda film,i will be getting milar instead next time for the walls.and use the panda film for the top of the rest of my totes. toke bongsmilielol

i also hung the fan from the ceiling with chains from my light ballast.

i built a cardbord inclosed wall to attach panda film to it,for maximum light reflection. cutting out vents in the bottom to keep water in totes cool and good ciculation so no mold happens.

gaurd dog on duty!!! but sleeps alot on the job.:eyesmoke:

now i have more room for these to breath a bit till i transplant 1 more bag seed plant and the other clone from outside that is almost ready for the move.

more space being used.

some of the others.

ok the plants are going strong. room temp 83 degrees. humidity level low. ph is stable at (5.8-6.0)

i raised the lights over the possible mother plant and the clone in the 2 pot tote, to about 12-14 inches and turned off the clf. only going to use the 4' fl bulbs with the daylight spectrum for now to see if they stretch some. i want more height for the mother plant, so i can clone the top soon. and have a 4 cola plant.

here are some pics of the stuff still outside, that must be late finishers.
