Hello, nice to meet every and anyone who may want to chit chat about my question.
I am growing a strain called My Dawg. Clones are 2 weeks old and have some roots hanging but not many. My ? is, how much roots do i need to go from veg to flower under a 250w mh/hps convertible. The baskets im using are the type that snap onto a 5
gal bucket. CIMG0031.jpgCIMG0030.jpgCIMG0029.jpgCIMG0032.jpg

I almost went with those buckets but the size of the pot scared me. I went one size smaller.

I did not have good root growth until after 2 weeks. I used Canna's Rhizotonic which made them EXPLODE!!

I would suggest picking up some 15-30ML / 4GA water (5GA reservoir)

Here are my results:

Before adding Rhizotonic:

Those are hardly any roots..Most DWC growers will veg a full 6-8 weeks You should be vegging for a longer period of time at least 6 weeks.. These were my root balls after 5 weeks of vegging.

Thank You very much Weedler, very nice roots there. i suffered nute burn my first week GH single part grow, drained the buckets and gave em superthrive. talk about awesome stuff. new growth and roots showed in 3 days.
I will not be using suck a large basket next round. I think its too big and takes the roots too long to show. But i digress the root balls u show are about right to switch the photo period? Thanks in advance.

I would love to veg that long but i (ass)u me d that using only a 250w that the plants would simply get too large

I'm running 2 5GA containers and the ladies are filling up a 3'x3' space they have plenty of head room. I'm doing a SCROG next round with 1 lady :D

I had some nute burn too, take a look at my grow from like page 1-5 I update almost daily. I am using GH Micro & Bloom along with the Rhizotonic.

CIMG0038.jpgCIMG0041.jpgCIMG0037.jpgCIMG0004.jpghello again Weedler. i really like your idea of using the 5 ga coolers for reservoirs, next round ill try it out. ? on the rhizotoinc, does it raise your ppm's alot? right now im using tap water at 40-50 ppm's let it sit out for 2-3 days. i use 3ga h2o in the 5 ga buckets they stay around 68-72F. 25ml of flora nova grow, 3ml of superthrive, 30ml ancient amber and 10ml of ca mg plus. that gives me about 775 ppm's of tds. this is my first try at dwc or any type of hydro growing. im a soil grower from the other coast. i swear if i wanted to i could sit and watch these things grow lol.

Dicky, I didn't use the tops and take a look at mine. BeaverHuntr maintains this temps better than me cause I have less insulation as I'm just using 5GA bucket lid like you have...

The Rhizotonic raised my PPM's by 50 for 4GA using 15ML for the 4GA I bumped it up to 30ML for the 4GA at the tail end of veg. Use it with out worries my friend!

I think he just purchased a 1000W HPS to finish the ladies. I just bought a 400W, so I veg under T-5 for clones & moms then put them under 250W MH for a few weeks then straight to Flower under 400W HPS.

One of the first things I bought was the 1000W MH/HPS found out that the 1000W was getting the room too hot so I bought a T5 to veg , now I just started using the 1000W HPS and I still had to buy another high output fan to keep the light cool. I think 250W would to little light for 6 plants but for what you got going its perfect in my opinion .

thank you much, im hooked on this indoor thing now
It's pretty fun dude. It's time consuming I know I have had to cancel a few drinking nights with my buddies because I had to work on my garden. Just be patient thats what I learned and ask some questions Weedler and FLo answered a lot of my questions so dont be afraid to ask.

not too bad for time with just 2 ladies, 5 minutes a day to check the vitals, temp ec tds and ph which remains stable for 3-4 days and usually only climbs to 6.5 . about a half hour once a week to change the reservoirs. lol alot more time spent enjoying the smell and growth rates lol

There is no enjoyment watching the growth rates ;-) its like watching a pot boil... I noticed my PH fluctuates typically after a reservoir change for the first day, then PH'd tap water to maintain reservoir level does the trick.

Take photos daily, I have daily photos so at the end of my grow I can put together a slideshow and just watch as I get baked LOL
