Rusty brown spots on plants

My plants are a few weeks old. I started them out in rockwool then put them in a DWC setupt for another week or so. In the DWC they started to get root rot / brown slime on the roots. Also, some rusty brown spots started to show up on the older leaves.

Last weekend I took the net cups out of the DWC, cleaned the slime off the roots and transplanted them into a Hempy bucket setup. They haven't grown much, probably from the shock, the rusty and brown spots have gotten worse. At first the spots were all rusty orange, now they are turning brown.

Also, the pearlite has some rusty brown stuff on top of it, and also the water that drains out of the buckets leave a rusty brown residue. I'm using bottle RO water.

Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks guys

Did you rinse that clay very well? If its not rinsed good enough there will be a rusty residue. Read through this link...its from the sticky I've got at the top pg 5. It looks similar to calcium deficieny(if I remember corectly)don't take my word...see what you think its the best way to learn
