Running two qb648 with 150watts

Do you have the voltage specs for the 648's? I saw a chart awhile ago, but I can't find it anymore. I was thinking the HLG150-H-54 wouldn't work with 2 boards since the forward voltage wouldn't be high enough with 2. But I'm obviously confused again, :bigjoint:

Maybe I'm thinking amps. I can't remember. I thought I had this stuff figured out awhile ago, but I keep forgetting shit, :lol:

this is all ik lol but ik I’m using a hlg-150h-54 and ik I’ve read some things about wanting to dim them for continuous use. But imma email hlg an ask if I can run two boards off this safely.

It's bugging me that I can't remember the math shit. I just had this figured out and on a piece of paper but I tossed it out the other day, :wall:. It'll come back though,:eyesmoke:

Edit: If I'm thinking right, The HLG-150H-54 will run one board at 54 Volts constantly and a max of 2.8 Amps. But if you split that to 2 boards in parallel, each board will still run at 54 Volts, but a max of 1.4 Amps. I don't know if 1.4 Amps is enough to power those boards. But like I said I forgot how this shit works, so I could be way off, :lol:

Yea we will see if it powers them cool if not one it is until I get new driver. Lol

I see no reason for this not to work, in fact the driver would better with 2 boards than running with just one on some drivers, like a HLG150H-54 is not recommended. Here's why, with just one boards the Vf (forward voltage ) for a single boards can rise to 56-57 volts, too much for the driver, where as with 2 boards, the Vf will be 54V. Best thing is to contact support for their expertise on what drivers you can use.

I've run a pair on a HLG185H-C1400b and they work fine. You get about 76-78 watts per board with this driver. You certainly get a lot of light and great efficincy at this power level! And think of it this way, each QB648 is equivalent to 2 1/4 QB 288!
I'm still trying to figure it all out. But the HLG-150H-54 is a constant voltage driver vs the HLG-185H-C1400b which is a constant current driver. I just looked up the HLG-185H-C1400b and it looks like it delivers 1.4 Amps constantly. So 1.4 Amps should be enough for each board with the HLG-150H-54, if that worked for you in series with the C1400b. Of course the 150 would be wired in parallel though.

Like I said though I'm stilling trying to figure this shot out. So I could be Way Off, :eyesmoke:

The constant voltage driver doesn't provide enough voltage when driving a Diablo at 150 watts as the forward voltage of the board can exceed 56 volts.
The HLG185H-C1400b provides the voltage needed to run 2 boards with ease.

Now with that said, according to the spec sheet, the 150H should be able to drive a single board, but it will require you to adjust the voltage upward before attaching a board. I don't know if anyone has tested this to see if indeed it will be enough to run the board without damage. Better safe than sorry!

Well for now my 150h-54 is running one board just fine I have it on 16 on 8 off. What driver you think would be good to run two boards at 300+w with adjustable dimming

To rephrase what @pop22 said, the 56v constant voltage driver may not provide enough voltage for the qb648 to draw 150 watts as the forward voltage of the board can exceed 56 volts.

I'm sure your light operates fine, but it may come up a little short of 150 watts. An AC power meter is a good thing to have, I use an old
Kill-A-Watt.

The HLG-320H-C2100 with A, B or AB dimming is what you want for 300+ watts from two qb648. I suggest AB dimming for more versatility, it's usually only a couple dollars more.
