Running Out of Headroom

That happened to me on my current grow. All I did was bend the top of the plants at a 90* angle. This allowed me to actually lower the light and get more light on the main colas. Every time I water, I bend the plant back the opposite way to ensure the whole thing gets some real good light.

I just use a wire arount the top cola, and then bent the wire under the lip of the pot the plant is in.

Thanks, Stoner. If my ladies were in pots in soil as yours are, tying them down would be very straightforward. My girls are all in one 2X4 flood table in Hydroton. So, yeah, I'll use wire or string; it's just more of a challenge. Rather than fiddle with trying to tie to the edges of the tray, I think I'll pick up some hefty fishing weights and use them for movable tie-down points. Has anyone here tried fishing weights?

Be careful hanging weights. You'll likely need less than you think. the plant continues to droop lower over time, so don't just hang a weight that immediately drops it to your ideal height, or you just may come back to some plants that are bent a little further than you like. Unless of course you lay the weight on the ground, I just don't know if you care to do that in a tray.

A brick or 2 on top of your hydroton with the coward wrapped around them would be better than fishing weights. You would be surprised at how much a limb can lift.

Yeah, I was planning to use 1lb+ weights, setting them on top of the medium as movable anchor points, then use slip knots to set the degree of bend. But I'm thinking that lead weights might leach lead into the plants. Bricks sound like a great alternative. I'll post some pics after the ladies are bowing to the East.

Remove the light hangers on your cool tube and use a heavy zip tie to hold your light closer to the mounting point on the tent frame should give you about 4" of more room...

OK, well, I drilled a bunch of holes around the rim of the flood tray, used loosely-closed tie wraps as grab points on the plants, tied 'em down, and now most of the endangered growth is bent away from the light. This is definitely LST; there's just a gentle curve in the tied-down branches. The canopy is fairly level now. There's a little more to do, then I'll get some pics. Keep it green, y'all!
