Anyone ever tried RG basement soil-less medium? I have been very disapointed with Fox Farms and Roots Organics ,I've been finding bugs in both (fungus gnats) so today I got a couple of bags of Basement. Never used it before, anybody have anything good or bad to say about it? is it as good as FF or RO?

Really? nobody? Well I guess I'll just use it and see what happens. If it turns out to be the greatest shit ever then I'll post my results if not then I won't.Thanks anyway.

I am using Basement mix but this is my first grow so I don't have much to offer. I am in 1 gal pots under 8 bulb t5. My only issue so far is that the mix retains water for too long. 7 days between my first watering and my second and eveb then they hadnt fully dried out. when I transplant to 10 gal I will be adding 1 part perlite to 3 parts basement mix.

I added pearlite, and so far so good I'm two weeks in to flower,Im growing Sour D in seven gallon Smart Pots under a 1,000 watt hps strech is going strong, leaves are green and stocks are thick. btw I would use two parts pearlite.IMO.

Cool avatar. Basement mix is great imo! Personally, not a fan at all w forfarm. I ran it before and when it dries out it pulls away from the pot (bad for roots) and actually becomes like hydrophobic? RO used it once, didnt really impress me but it was mixed w foxfarm so that might be why. Id stick w the basement mix. sunshine makes a new one called something coir, im testing it for the shop right now and its pretty bomb too. water retention/areation are both seeming to be balanced pretty well. I put stuff in tho like worm castings, humates, dehydrated molasses, perlite, mycchoraze too. its a watered down version of subs supersoil. you should look into the ss. as soon as it warms up here in colorado im gonna start cooking mine!!!

I used some royal gold basement mix in my current grow as a comparison.
If you want to check the current grow in my signature there are some compare shots with FFOF and some soil I bought at costco.
I personally won't be getting Royal Gold again, but that's just me and my area/plants.
It just seemed to keep them constantly yellowish.

Royal Gold's new mixes are very nice. The Basement is just that a base mix, their Mendo Mix has more ammendments and when you mix the 2....bingo

Thanks Surf. My local shop only has Basement .I asked about the Mendo but was told it was too hot for smaller plants. So the combo souds perfect. I will be trying that as soon as I can find the Mendo. So far the Basement is working well for me with Pro Grow and Pro Bloom, cal/mag etc., but I'd like to use less amendments( lazy! ).... :peace:
