Round 2: Extrema & El Monstre DWC Cooler Scrog

Both rez were empty when I checked so I filled the exterior rez up with plain water since I had to do it in the dark with a red light.
I'll add some Overdrive in the rez tomo. I am out of Sensi Bloom so I ordered some from eBay.
Should be here in 2-3 days.
From what I seen of the budz they are looking FAT and FROSTY!! I'll post up some pics tomorrow.

How did the res work out for you when you were gone.

A few trich pics. There are still some clear trichs but most look cloudy.

I just have to check the water level in the exterior rez and add to it. Thanks Woods!!
My rez has been a steady 70, but I still add ice to the main rez to drop the temp down to 63-65 when I have the time to do so.

PPM: 1550
pH: 5.5

I can hear the crickets chirping it's so quiet around here.
I added a little Overdrive & Sensi Bloom A&B to the rez.
Which raised it from 1550 to 1750 PPM.
I will leave it there for about 2 weeks then start a gradual flush for the last 2 weeks.
Trying to pack some more weight and size onto these budz!!

Due to the lack of interest in this thread I will be updating weekly.
Here are a couple pics on week 7.
I am hoping a few of these budz will be done around the 10 wk mark.
Pistils are turning orange/brown, but I think they will pack on some more weight over the next 2 weeks.
Still some clear trichs but mostly cloudy. Going for 50/50 amber/cloudy

Dude I would finish out the week on nutes, and then start flushing with some honey or wateva. They look pretty done.. Isn't extrema/el monstre like a 7-8 week strain?

Still too early to start the flush. Extrema is an 8 week strain, the El Monstre is a 10-12 week strain.
I only have the one El Monstre flowering. My Extrema was a male.
I am waiting it out for some amber trichs. I still have alot of clear trichs on the lower budz.
I am only in week 7 so I plan to go til week 8-9 to start the flush.
My first round I thought El Mon was an 8 wk so I started the flush at this time and messed up my harvest. Not gonna let it happen again this grow.
There are also still alot of vibrant white pistils left. Couple more weeks and I'll chop.

Right on - yea I remember you taking them off nutes in Rd 1 about this time.. also remember you saying they would have put on some serious extra weight if they'd have had more time.

So is El Monstre Sativa dominant? Thats a long flower, I thought they were both indies

Most plants ripen from the top down, I have just chopped the top half of the plant and over the next week or two chopped the rest when it is done. Works out well.

It seems to be sativa dom. The leaves are not as wide as indica and the flowering time is definitely that of a sativa. Good things come to those who wait.

Yea I know they ripen from the top down.
I plan to chop a top off of a bud in about a week and test it, but the rest is going for at least 10 weeks before chop.

Thanks! These budz are stacking up nicely and are more dense than in Round 1 with her mother.
The smell is real sweet anf she is super sticky to the touch!

These are from the top of one of the budz. Mostly cloudy trichs. Waiting for some amber.
The bottom of the budz still have clear trichs because it doesn't get as much light.

Lowered the nutes from 1750 down to 1350 PPM. The gradual flush begins.
I will drop it down to 800 PPM tomo and leave it for 4-5 days then lower it to around 400 PPM.
Then run straight water for the last 3-5 days and plan to harvest around week 10.

I cut a small bud off and have been hang drying it for 2-3 days. Gonna try it out in a few.
It's premie bud, but it should give me an idea of the quality over Round 1.

Since my last grow, I've come to realize that a strain's given flowering time (and overall life cycle) is actually significantly shortened by the use of hydroponics and hid.

This has me re-thinking that 'flushing error' you made on your last grow. Now I'm thinking that it wasn't so much the long flush, but simply that the buds went too long. That's why you lost potency and aroma, dude. And I say that because it happened with my Diablo. I let them live too long and so they def lost potency. The recommended flower period was 8-10 weeks on that Diablo strain I just grew. Looking back on it, I see now that I should have cut at least a week and a half sooner than I did.

I think you're on a good track this time, but I thought I'd run that by you because you're running hydro and pumping your roots with lots of oxy. This speeds everything up. Keep that in mind. you're at a crucial stage. It's better to error by harvesting a little early than too late.

Watch your plants. Don't wait until they start taking on the overly 'dry and crackly' look.

I always had a tendency to harvest a little early on all my previous grows and never had a potency issue. But what I thought was early harvesting was just right for my sped-up system. Following the recommended flowering time for the strain was my mistake. The flowering estimate for a strain assumes you're growing in super slow soil.
