high everyone glad to be a new member here,ok heres my question,I had 6 plants growing in an 18 gal. res. DWC I started from seed(bag seed).as the plants matured enough to sex them 2 were males and 2 were hermie's and 2 females.so now I have removed the unwanted males and hermies by pulling the net pots out and cuting the roots off,my problem is that all the roots are growing togeather in giant mass of roots,I did the best I could to seperate them and moved the 2 females into 5 gal. buckets.the roots from the unwanted plants are all massed togeather so I know that there are roots that have been cut from the unwanted plants mixed in there,so my question is are these roots that have been cut off going to cause problems, are they going to die and cause root rot and what is the best thing to do,the plants are about a week or so into flower and very healthy so far any advice will help thanks

they wont cause problems usually. Check every so often and if you see them browning and can grab a few, go ahead, but dont worry it happens all the time and usually wonthurt anything. If there is alot of plant matter left in your res it can mess your water up a bit, but change your res every couple weeks and look for plant matter and youll be fine.

If it's really a problem, and you notice your plants trip'n out...use clear sissors, clean with alcohol and cut the unwanted sections off. You will remove good roots in the process, but...that's the price you pay. If you don't want to do that, you may want to look into a product called "Hygrozyme" , it's EXPENSIVE! ...but, it breaks down dead materials...here's a link >>> http://www.hygrozyme.com/

I cut the males and hermies off and left them in there for a few days before I put the females into buckets, the buckets are working out better than the tote did, being able to move them around is much easier than that big tote. anyways I had another female that I had growing on my porch the wind blew the bucket over and sent the plant sailing into the neighbors yard, well I decided to see what would happen if I cut the roots off around 4 or 5 inches below the net pot, well that was 2 days ago and the plant lookes better than it ever did.now I dont know whats going to happen a month down the road but so far she looks better than ever,by the way my ppm was at 1200 before I cut the roots and at 800 ppm with a ph of 5.85 I thought the higher ppm would burn the cut roots so I cut it back to 800 and will raise it 100 every 3 days until I get where I want to be. peace and grow on
