I need your opinions on this soil. I just got 10 bags and someone said something about that soil having bugs.

don't know if mycos like those. are those products safe
Hotshot strips are NOT safe! They are Extremely toxic. Humans are not even supposed to be in the same room as them for more then a few hours even by the directions. Do NOT put these things in your grow rooms! And personally I wouldn't put them around my soil either! Trashcans or not.

Exactly what bugs are you trying to kill? Fungus gnats? Use some BT.

since you asked for my opinion, i'll share a story with you. I used ROOTS exclusively for three years, never had a problem, until...I transplanted some VERY large ladies into my normal 50 gallon smartpots, used the ROOTS, within 3-6 hours three of my plants wilted/drooped like they need water drastically, they died with 24 hrs. I tried transplanting after "washing" the roots, but the damage was done, super fast.
I had three other plants transplanted at the same time with fox farms, and they were fine. My theory is that the outdoor Roots facility was exposed to an herbicide. My theory anyways.... I've never seen any cannabis die that quickly.
Wasn't user error either, you can safely rule that one out
Been using Vermi-fire soil since, VERY good stuff, better results, no bugs, or weird weeds/seeds. Also since it has volcanic rock it's easier to re-use than the soils with a ton of perlite (floats/separates)
I honestly liked the Roots, but after it killed three of my MONSTER plants (four foot scrogged with like 20 tops) for that outdoor season, well... I was fairly butt-hurt.

Like I said, I used to love the stuff, but not after that, I vegged those girls all spring with a metal halide shining on them from 8pm to 1am, to keep them from flowering, and they were HUGE, I probably could have yielded over a KG a plant easily, and times that by three?
Two Blue Dreams and a Jack herer.
Very pissed, BUT at the same time, it led me to the Vermifire, which I think is a superior product, by far, in fact.
SO kinda like getting dumped by a girlfriend, stings at first, until you find an upgrade:hump:

This has happened before to a green house in my area but it wasn't roots organic soil. The guy planted in tons of soil and hardly anything grew well that year. the soil company reimbursed him for some of the losses but I think his business lost about 50 grand that year.

Ive been using Original roots for a few years now. I like it and it seems to grow nice healthy plants. Never had bugs that were a problem. The only thing I dislike about it, might make it so good. They use a shitload of perlite. It makes for easy root growth but sometimes I feel like its not worth the $. (pretty much paying big bucks for a bunch of perlite)

If you're worried about bugs calm you're nerves as roots isn't known for bugs. Been using it 4 years and haven't had a problemo.

If you're really worried about it run something with some spinosad in it through your soil and it will kill anything bad.

Every bag of Roots I get has fungus gnat larvae. I use Diametrius Earth (powder) to kill them once and for all.
