Roots not spreading?

Hi, I planted 9 stardawg clones from a reputable nursery on september 29. The clones were rooted in rockwool at the nursery. Its been 9 days, and the roots are not spreading out or down in my coco. I have 2 100% coco, and 7 70/30% coco perlite. I have been waterimg and feeding half strength nutes when coco and cube are dry. 18/6 light schedule, under 600 watt eye hortilux super hps, which I have used to successfully veg plants. Light is about 3 feet above canopy. New top growth is appearing, but only very slight root growth, so little that when I watered today, a cube just floated out of the coco.. its very strange. Temps were cold, like 70, now higher, up to 85.. any ideas?

What do they look like? Are the plants happy? If so rockwool is really porous and has lots of room for roots. Sometimes plants root the cube first seen full plants grown in just 4"x4" cubes. If they plants look good I would worry about it it'll root

don't let them get dry, coco isn't soil, it never needs to dry out, and young roots should never dry out. water them lightly twice or even three times a day till they get established.
the light is too big and too far away. get a couple of t5s or cfls and put them as close as possible till you start getting decent growth, then put them under your hid light.

Patience. If things are green things are ok. I give NO nutes to my clones and you shouldn't either. Plain water and less mothering. Keep things moist and warmer 74/78 or so, but not soaked. Or even warmer if humidity is up there.

Sounds to me like you're going to love your plants to death... to much everything...
You have to let them grow not make them grow.. Slow down..
