roots drying?

so i have about 6 clones in a diy aeroponic system. at first, when the roots just started showing through the netcups, they were thick, white, and very healthy looking. two weeks later, they're much longer but they are becoming stringy-looking, thin, dark, and...dry (at least thats how they look)?
any idea why this may be? and how would i go about fixing this?

ive attached a picture, not sure if u can see much but im sure you can get an idea of what is happening. the clones are sprayed 45 seconds every hour, and at that time there was hardly any nutrients used.

any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks

yes ph is balanced between about 5-6

and you're saying 15 minutes/ hour... not straight im assuming, right? so say something like 30 seconds every...10 minutes or something along those lines? i cant do the math right now.

and when the roots were growing quickly and were healthy looking they were under the same intervals. id ont get it.

well... as the roots grow, it needs more nutrients. thus, it needs more solution. thus, it needs to be sprayed more.

AT least 30 seconds every 10 minutes...

LIKE mr. waffle said.. KEEP it ON... is an option... the roots have no medium... they just hang in the air.. correct? so it is impossible to over water...

NOW

once the roots get into the RESERVOIR and are sitting inthe water, you may have some issues... THEN I would recommend you put an airstone i the reservoir...

ROOTS need OXYGEN... moving water has more o2 than still water.

your roots need more oxygen like garden knowm said put more airstones in there. the more you water the shorter the roots the less often you water the longer the roots. more time in between watering gives them time to grow. once you tweak your system aeroponics grows plants faster than any system.
