Roots coming up to the surface?

Roots are surfacing! Is this bad? Why is it happening?

I wouldn't consider it good. How big is the container? How old is the plant?

Its fine, means your roots are growing fast and looking for room, my soil plants always do this. Could be time to consider transplanting tho

A) you are digging the surface soil up when you water.
B) the humidity in your grow is WAY too high.

If a) you can put a layer of hydroton on the surface of the soil to break the pouring pressure or put a screen on your watering device.
If b) get a dehumidifer and a hydrometer.

I doubt that the roots are growing up out of the soil, more like your washing or scraping soil from the top.

lmfao! You guys are killing me. I'll post pics lata. I displace the dirt a bit after each watering just to fluff it up a bit. But yesterday only a few millimetres below the surface I found a large root. I have seen this before with tiny roots. My plants are mothers and have been in veg for 2-3 months. The pots are 2-3 gallons. Next week will be cloning time. I'm going to throw them out once cut cause my license is for 25 plants and I don't wanna make a small veg room.

ps I have seen mass roots surface in coco a few yeas ago but this is the first pro mix grow for me. In that case I believe it was low oxygen to the roots witch cause them to come up.

Roots typically grow downward. I think it's gravity related. They will always grow downward unless re-directed by hitting something in the pot and then they'll head up but always back down shortly after. It's NOT caused by low oxygen. Either way, keep all roots covered in medium or they harden up and stop drawing moisture from the soil. They'll be fine for support of the plant, but useless in nutrient uptake.
