Root Cuttings: Clone Propagation Technique

Just to clarify this is not a discussion on how to root cuttings but a method of clone propagation.

I am attempting to grow some clones using the roots to grow some new plants. It is very difficult to get any information about this since if you type in "root cuttings" its normally about people trying to root their cuttings instead of the method described here.

To begin I found an article on root cloning rose bushes. I decided to try 2 different methods. I use DWC so I can hack away at roots with ease. I grabbed some dirt from 2 dead potted plant we have and first tried laying the roots on flat on a layer and covering up with 1-2mm of dirt. Second method was described from the article as: cut 3in of roots and plant vertically with the root bottom facing bottom (your plant isnt going to grow from the root bottom, but from the root top).

I am unsure if my dirt is contaminated with other plants or if these are the marijuana growing from the dirt. I havent ever germinated weed seeds but it looks like a very early stage of growth. Here are the pictures...

Yeah that looks like some other plant besides mj
It looks like the shit that pops up in crappy soil...
I don't think that those sprouts are cannabis dude, sorry
If those cotyledons were already opened like that you would have two serrated leaves coming up between them which I do not see whatsoever

I saw one guy on here say that is how he does but ironically enough there wasn't any pics!
I would just stick to regular cloning

I've never done this with MJ, but I have done it with other plants. Many plant cells have the ability to regenerate an entire plant. This property is called totipotency. Some plants can even be propagated by making slits in the veins of a leaf and placing it on the soil with just enough soil on top to keep it in contact. Anyways, i think there's a good chance that this method works, it just hasn't become popular enough with MJ growers for us to be able to find the best methods.

I thought I saw a pic once of a clay pot with a hundred little shoots out of it, I've yet to have success though. Has anyone had a positive result, or knows if its possible?

Hey Sexxxy Beast!

I was doing a search on roots and found your thread. We're running some root cloning trials and keeping track in a thread, if you'd like to link your thread to ours or post pics we'd love to have another Root Clone scientist amonst us!

ps I have had easy success with root cloning hundreds of sprouts when I first started growing. The learning curve is not steep.
