Road Trip

So Mr Mellow and I are heading East with our two pups Jax & Boo to Denver via Salt Lake City and back via Durango, Vegas and Yosemite/Lake Tahoe.

I'd love if anyone wants to share the mostly unknown but really cool stops to make along the route, and where is super dog friendly and where to avoid and my Golden Jax really has his heart set on swimming in the Salt Lake- are there dog friendly beaches?

Thanks!

There are national and state parks that have beaches. Most are dog friendly, cost about 10-15 dollars to get in. Just north of Salt Lake City is where I stopped during a 3 week road trip and it was pretty nice. The beaches are clean and the locals seemed pretty nice.

Also, look up airplane graveyards in the mojave and parts of arizona and NM. Those are pretty cool.

The hoover dam is another attraction. Amazingly large compared to other dams in the country. If you're in for a modern marvel that is.

Thanks! Do you remember that beach north of Salt Lake City?

Pretty much the entire east side of Salt Lake City is the lake. Just pick a beach in the northern area. They tend to be nicer for some reason.

When you travel with your dogs sometime stopping for their natural needs...make you discover some nice place you would have never visited otherwise...

I hate Vegas myself.... Durango and Yosemite were my picks :bigjoint: I was actually stuck in Vegas the week after 911 I hope he gets over the hype with this so I never have to go back!
I like off-the track spots.
The Devil's Postpile behind Yosemite is lovely.
Also, there is a tree called the Bennett Juniper off the 108 near Sonora Pass. I've seen the redwoods, the sequoias, that big-ass bald cypress, an acre of banyan in Asia, and the Bennett Juniper is the single most awesome living thing I have ever laid eyes on. It's out of the way and you need a truck for the fire road, but that's what keeps it such a lovely unspoiled spot.

However an image search shows that the tree has changed since I saw it last! Apparently a massive branch tore loose, disturbing the tree's symmetry which was very unusual for a Western Juniper. cn
