RIP Rush Limbaugh

Congratulations to Rush Limbaugh on 74 days of sobriety.
I used that today.

Went up to a couple of our most vociferous right-wing trash bags at work and said "Guess who is celebrating 75 days without narcotics?"

They knit their brow and gave a questioning look until I answered, "Rush Limbaugh, that's who!"

One of them said "only the left celebrates the death of their opponents". I asked whether they were aware of Rush's "AIDS updates" and then asked if my feelings put me in the running to win a Medal of Freedom.

Yup, winning friends and influencing people like a mother-fucking Carnegie.

I'd tell them that only a racist traitor and moral failure would vote for Trump, or the republicans. I wouldn't call them that to their faces, but I'd tell them what I thought of such people. Yep the chickenshits threw their country under the bus, cause they were afraid to compete with black and brown folks and for good reason, they were better people and smarter than they are. Ask them if they support the insurrection on Jan 6th, the betrayal of the nation and constitution? Ask them who won the fucking election?

I'd have some serious fun around the old water fountain and might have to arm myself going to the parking lot!

Oh, I know they did. I did a little bit of crowing after the election - but only after hearing a dozen or so people talking about how "Trump won the election."

My office-Karen said "wait until January 6th, then we'll see who's laughing". I laughed in her face but shyed away from saying that I would on the day in question because I knew full well what these human rimjobs were capable of. I asked her whether she was laughing about it the next time I saw her after and she started screaming about patriots being sold out by the deep state.

Ya know, if a fellow was a writer there could be material here for a book or a sitcom script, I'd be taking notes!

Furthermore, I'd be provoking them and setting them up, then let them write the sitcom script for me.

I don't think I could do it. Writing about these people successfully would require empathy. I have no empathy whatsoever toward dumb white people who believe that white privilege and racism do not exist. I am prejudiced against them.

That would be bad for the work environment. I have been accused of politicizing it by a few and have had to bring up examples (there are several daily) of other people bringing up politics to demonstrate that my real sin is disagreeing and that they want to "cancel" my opinion which, as an American, I am entitled to.

Same thing happened with my in laws.

These people are sometimes too ignorant to realize that they are talking politics. They just think that bitching about black people is some sort of universal truth.

I said something unfair here.

There is nothing wrong with rimjobs.

I apologize. Whatever consenting adults do sexually I am OK with.

True, one needs an understanding heart to write well, but we are talking about a sitcom here. No need to crawl into the space vacated by their souls, just write down what they say. No one said a feller had to do a Dostoevsky on them and Shakespeare would have said Trump's base was base stuff, though he had crazy characters in his plays too.

These are the people that I would think it might be worth sending a email with the same viruses they already have allover all of their communication devices to know which sites they frequent/account names so that you can then make a bunch of sock puppet accounts and start reprogramming them to all the bullshit that they have been brainwashed on by the Republican/Trump con.

I really don't even think it would be that hard, it would just take consistency.

he has to be careful because HR especially if they've already said something and he's been spoken to.

my advice is: you're always on camera so you have to be careful, but that goes for the offending employees too..if only there was a way to get them to.. he has to figure out what the goal is..torture or termination for his Karen. if it's termed, you would get something on camera of her doing physically.

Baldrick does have a valid complaint though because harassment comes in all forms and doesn't have to be sexual. the constant racist exposure would be enough to get her termed if you can get it taped or another person as witness then go to HR with formal complaint.

perhaps his Karens FB has some things their company would be interested in? Instagram? Twitter? if she's a racist at work she is everywhere else and it will be in print. voila! send it to HR..asking the question 'Are these the type of employees our company wishes to represent them?'

Shit, I would pitch it to the owners. They should have to be worried that one of these nuts will end up shooting up their places too.

If nothing else this could serve as a early warning device for HR to use to better manage their staff.

Basically you could data mine your employees mental health and help nudge them into a healthier mindset. Basically the opposite of what the Republican/Trump militarized trolls (foreign and domestic) have been doing.

You would have to cut them off from church. Without that there is no hope.

And my office Karen plays podcasts, as do I, so it is easy to know what she is influenced by. Most of them are watching Fucker Carlson regularly, she is playing Diamond and Silk (literally the most obvious grift ever).

I started it. I listen to what they call propaganda because every day I listen to "The Daily" by the NYT and the BBC's world news. I even forgo the former if it is discussing one of their sacred cow issues and just wait until the ride home. Think back 20 years. Can you imagine having news on in the workplace being considered a provacation? It is now.

They believe they are listening to the same sort of thing. It never occurs to them that both the podcasts that I listen to do a very good job of exploring "both sides" of an issue even if they take an opinion. Literally none of their podcasts do this. The closest they come is to burn an occasional straw man. But they honestly believe that what they are listening to is fair and balanced. Rush used to say so, and so did FOX. So it must be true.

Shit, I listened to Limbaugh in the early nineties. I remember how he would tell his listeners "you don't have to read books and papers, I will read them for you and tell you what to think." To me is was just braggadocios - the hustle of an entertainer. I am guessing that Rush was a little surprised that these fucking fools believed him. He laid the road that led to Trump, who most of these assholes found "hilarious" but also considered him to be credible. Right @GodAlwaysWins? That was your word in the quote marks.

I read a disheartening article a few years ago about a study that found that more than half of Americans are not able to distinguish opinion from fact. From what I recall, the study went along the lines of giving high school students a bunch of info about something like milk. They would float them info like "milk is rich in calcium" and "calcium is necessary for bones to grow properly" with the relevant scientific sources - and included in the mix would be something like "the American Dairy Association says that drinking milk daily is important to your health." Afterward they would quiz them about what they read and which elements are fact and which are opinion. They found that about 75% of them believed that drinking milk daily was important to their health was a fact. A truly disheartening number believed that milk is rich in calcium and calcium is an important component of bones was opinion.

It was just a matter of time before the malevolent hoisted us on this petard. Its unthinkable that we wouldn't be put to this test.

Well played, motherfuckers, well played. But it would be premature to claim victory just yet.

My least favorite tactic of Carlson is him making the bulk of his show to be questions and that dumb confused face.

The answers to most of these questions are easily found if you aren't too dumb or too lazy to look.

At least Limbaugh openly had opinions. Carlson is a sleaze.

John Oliver brought this up last night. Carlson asking why we aren't being allowed to ask questions about the vaccine. Fucking hilarious considering the fact that there are a literal metric fuck-ton of "Here are the answers to your vaccine questions" resources. But Tucker tells these mental defectives that we aren't being allowed to ask these question and their isolation from real news is so acute that they believe him.

This tactic would not have worked 5-10 years ago. Their recent mental decline has made it possible now though.

Questions like, "Is my asshole punched or bored"? Tucker reads a script, way more than Rush, who just had talking points for guidance and winged it. I think more focus should be placed on those who write this crap and they work the mouths of many different talking heads.

They need to teach rhetoric and civics in high school along with mindfulness training (mindfulschools.org) for emotional stability and to build empathy. Half the population can't tell fact from opinion because half the population is below average intelligence, education can help, but not much, there is still no cure for stupid.
