RIP Kyle Kushman Strawberry Cream :(

so after 4 consecutive grows trying everything to prevent my prized Strawberry Cream strain from hermi'ing, im throwing in the towel for good. i even sprayed her with dutch masters reverse (which does absolutely nothing). I have absolutely NO light leaks, no timer issues, no nute issues, no bug issues, no stress issues, nothing that I can think of to cause this hermi issue. after almost 3 years of growing her, and 2 years my buddy had her in his garden (may he rest in peace), I think the SC has run her (its) course in life. the hardest thing is culling a very high potent, very high yielding strain (5 zips/plant avg), and a huge favorite with my patients as well as myself.

i have 2 more in veg about ready to flip im thinking or running (i need to fill 2 spots if i cull them and have nothing to put in their spots), then after that, no more SC in the garden. so im on the hunt for a replacement strawberry plant or equivalent potent/high yielder/high quality strain. but ill have room for 4 more GG#4's for a total of 12 glues for a while :).

RIP KKSC, you will be missed by a lot of people.

after further inspection last night, it seems the one SC I harvested 2 days ago and one I was looking at last night are very well underdeveloped compared to the other 2 that are in my flower room. the buds look 1/2 the size of the other 2. the 2that look od tossed a few nanners. ill harvest this other odd plant tonight during lights on. the other 2 remaining plants look very healthy and no signs of any nanners. im wondering if the nanners are contained to those 2 cuts, and the other 2 will flower as normal, or is it just a matter of time for those 2 to throw nanners.

a buddy of mine said to just keep the SC strain going and not to cull it completely and just deal with a few nanners and grow as usual or harvest them a week earlier than expected. he says at least ill still have that strain going. I have no problem spending 1-2 hrs a day nanner hunting/plucking, as ive been doing this for 4 cycles now.

Dootz, I am unable to bring any plants outside. plus I do not want to bring any outside bugs back into my garden. ive got 3 yrs under my belt and no bugs other than a few fruit flies from my FFOF soil, and 1 hypostasis mite (a good mite, not a bad one) I found and killed cause I didn't know what it was. so no pants go outside then back inside.

that's a whole nother nute line in itself. I went back to square 1 with this grow to eliminate any irregularities. I omitted the budswell (organic bat shit), apple additive (K booster), and a feeding, FULLY enclosed my grow tent with basically a framed room around my tent.

im gonna toss in a pineapple chunk and laughing buddah plant next cycle. last time I ran them ALL 3 hermied on me. so now im back to thinking I screwed up the genetics of all 3, but the probability of that doesn't make any sense.

No, I'm not talking about using a different line of nutrients. Just an organic, water only type soil. That M3 mix or something similar. Just to see if the plant responds better in that medium. Might be worth a bag of soil as opposed to tossing the strain all together.

Stow, Ill give that a shot on 2 of them when they come out of the cloner. I had another idea. 2 of my 4 in flower SC's (7 weeks) threw a few nanners and were very underdeveloped compared to my other 2 in the tent. ive since harvested those plants. the other 2 have NOT thrown any nanners, yet, and look like my normal SC plants at this point in flowering. I was thinking I can reveg the 2 SC after harvest if they haven't thrown any nanners, put them under 24/7 600mh in my veg tent, and reveg them bishes. then take clones when their available, clone them, veg them, then toss them in the flower room after a short veg time and see if they throw nanners. ill have extra clones of these chilling in my clone tent.

FYI everyone dutch masters reverse is garbage and does NOT work. there is NO magical or bottle hermie reversal potion out there. even the new optic foliar switch (same shit as DM reverse), doesn't work either. I tried on 3 separate grows and im out about 200.00. but it was worth a shot.

ive only used FFOF for 3 yrs. I haven't really read up or know about any water only organic soils.

My sour diesel is stupid sensitive to light so if not enough light made it to the lowers she would not only throw nanners but grow balls outright. started using switch on day 10 and day 17 and have not had an issue since so I guess ymmv on that.

although switch and reverse won't do anything for the plants that have already nanner'd and started chucking pollen

I sprayed mine at day 7 of flip, then 10 days later (per the directions) the past 3 grow cycles. I don't get nanners until week 7, every single cycle for 3 cycles.

I'd go with your buddies advice then and just cut them a week early rather than lose a favorite strain. I just cut a longs peak at 7 weeks due to nanners and my patients still loved it. although that strain has fallen way down on my favorites list so I may end up letting that one go.

ive been chopping early the last 3 grow cycles. the buds are still very potent and does the trick. all my patients never noticed anything different.

ive got one last trick im gonna try this run. I mentioned it in my looking for a new strain thread. I had 4 Sc in flower at week 7. 1 showed a few nanners and look like a weak bud growing plant, so I harvested it. I have another one in flower that threw 2 nanners, and will be chopped today. it also looks funny and not the norm like the 1st one. now I have 2 left in flower that look normal (big colas, super frosty, super smelly) that im keeping my eye on. if I don't see any nanners come harvest, ill harvest 85% of the plant and reveg them. then pull clones and run them to see if they grow normal or if they throw nanners. I don't have anything to lose at this point. I have 7 more SC's in the cloner as backups.

I spend about 2hrs daily nanner hunting with a 20x magnifying glass.

LMFAO!!!!!! im in the works of setting up an apt to get one. tell you the truth, im F'n scared to get the "fat nutz" from doing stupid shit (lifting) instead of resting for those 3 days.

smoking some SC helps with nanner hunting and a few miller lites. :)

Get some pollen and seed your girl. You will get a close match if the male doesn't have uncommonly strong genetics

I've already been snipped. I opted for the reverseable one. It's plastic clamps that they put on the tubes instead of snipping and cauterizing them. The only downside is that it feels like you've got little lego blocks in your nutsack. Takes a minute to get used to. lol
