Reusing rock wool grow blocks and coco mat

Curious if there is any downside to simply reusing the grow blocks and mat after a flood and drain grow is completed and roots removed as much as possible from both?

I've always read that it is fine to do so, but my personal opinion is that the cost is so low, why risk bringing any problems from a previous grow into a new one?
