resuvoir shape retaining sticks

So, I just found out what they were for a few days ago and popped them in, but my plants are like.. right on top of them so the roots dangle to one side of them.. (partially on top of them)

I'm wondering if thats bad?

Also, is anyone else actually using these?

They are supposed to help your res keep shape with all the water and shit in it, but I'm thinking they are kind of worthless and just get in the way.

Yea i took mine out when i first got it

I was just thinking it would suck if my res got warped and the pump didn't fit right in the AG and there was a bunch of light getting into the res.. so I put them in.

but I doubt that would happen.
