nutrient residue, salts, anything really. Next time the res is getting empty just empty it and give it a wash out, just a bit of dirt. My airlines in my DWC tub get slimy here and there but it means little, does little and certainly doesn't need money spent on lots of additives and such.

You can use h2o2 , plants actually love the shit if you're talking about cleaning a running res of slime, I'd think the only way it would appear is if water temperature is too high and or its exposed to light.

as long as you don't put too much yeah, plants love that shit man, in the end it turns into water, after popping an extra o2 molecule in your res, plants love o2 and water. I use it quite a lot, the best thing to do is go get some 29-32 percent and dilute it down to a strength of like 3 percent, personally I don't even measure, I just dilute some in another container and pour it in the res. Now I'm running bennies in veg so I'll not use h2o2 unless I have a problem, before I started using the bennies I used h2o2 a lot. oh and p.s..... if you get the 29-32 percent be careful, that shit will take your skin off until its diluted. You can also just use 3 percent from like walgreens but sometimes they put other shit in that, the 29 percent has no additives.

At rez changes I use FloraKleen (supposed to break nut. bonds also) and let it run for a few hours on it's normal watering schedule. Then I empty the rez and wipe everything down with a clean cotton rag before I fill it back up agian. Don't know if FloraKleen is just some glorified H2O2 or a marketing scheme but it seems to work. It is also recommended for flushes, emergency or at the end of the grow, which I used last time and had some clean tasting buds. Anyone else use this product?

If it is Slime, not saying that it is, but if it is slime, the Slime is going to LOVE the h202 and will thrive.

You'll know real quick.

Are your plants healthy? Then dont worry about it!
I use 2 ml of 50% H2O2 every 3 days and I still get some gunk in my reservoir and on my pumps, air hoses, etc...
I drain it once a week and clean what ever I can off, certain addatives (like snow storm) will leave some funky gunk in your res, on ur air stones especially, its not harmful so dont sweat it.
You still can get this kind of growth with cold water, I run at water chiller at 62 degrees (so cold my res sweats) and there is still growth. Its impossible to keep your res soo sterile that some organic growth wont occur, because then it would in turn kill your plants.
