Rescued a plant - need advise

I have a plant thats about 3 weeks old.

I rescued it from someone else that didn't want to put in the work and invest in adequate lighting. I am going to get the grow space and lights set up tomorrow night and I want to see this plant through.

Up until now she hasnt got the proper lighting she should have had. What do you suggest?

When I get everything built should I put her on an immediate 24 hour cycle for some time?

What steps should I take from here to get her on track?

we need some pics of her. start out on 18 so she doesnt stress or shock. dont throw to many nutrients on her right away either

Until you see she starts looking better. You can do 18/6 till flowering but i like 24 hours for a month and then 12/12 flowring

So where do I go from here?
Does she look OK?

I am a total newb so any and all help would be great.

Looks a little overwatered (Curled leaves). Not related to the leaf problems but 18-6 is a waste of time unless it's a stealth issue or power issue. 18/6 is the minimum not the optium (24/7). What lights are you using and what Nutrients?

Why is 24/7 optimum?

Looks pretty good. A little drooped from overwatering but that should correct itself if you don't overwater anymore. Use 18/6 it saves electricity and the difference in growth over 24 hours of light is not worth it.

I like 20-4. As I understand it. At lights on the plant is collecting light and transforming that into sugars and foods for the plant, which are then stored in the roots. During lights off the plant is better able to use this stored food to build itself. The plant can still do everything with lights on but it uses the stored energy best at lights off I think. There's plenty of people who do different things though. Each to their own.

Run a few grows at different light cycles. 18/6 gives you and your plants a "rest" period, a buffer where you don't have to worry as much about your plants dying (especially with hydro systems dependent on electricity). Stressed plants will die MUCH faster under a longer light cycle.

Leaves room for error and if you get your set up right, short vacations. The plant growth rate is about the same as well especially for short flowering plants that require less vegetative time.

I have a 2' T5 (two light) overhead and a couple of 26 watt CFLs on each side.
That should be good enough shouldnt it?

I have no nutrients yet.

make sure you got 6500k daylight spectrum lights in your T5 and CFL's for vegging..

if you wanna flwer using same light setup, you gotta change the bulbs to 2700k - 3500k spectrum.

heres what i did (first grow but proved itself well) 24/7 on sprouts for about a month, then 18/6 for 5 full weeks, now im on 12/12 which i will continue for another 8 weeks

I got the 2' fluorescent from HTG Supply and they provided me with the 6500K and the 2700K so I am covered there.

My only other question is this: on the pack of seeds (DNA Genetics - Chocolope) it says the flowering period is 8-9 weeks. I think I am just looking for clarification on that. Its about a month old right now. What sort of time frame am I looking at from here on out?

We'll just agree to disagree on the light cycle issue. 18/6 vs 24/7 will probably only mean a weeks delay in being ready for flower. You can experiment later and see what your strain likes. Stay patient!

On the light question, you seem to be a little underpowered for the flower stage. They will veg ok but flowing takes more light or you do not get dense buds. To get the biggest and the best you need about 5k lumens per square ft of the grow area of the plants. I start my flower cycle when they have vegged for 6-8 weeks and are about 1' tall. Right before I start to flower I take clones from well growing plants for the next generation and put them in the veg part of my grow room in another BP set-up. By the time they have rooted in the cloner and spent 6-8 weeks in the veg area, I'm ready to flower and repeat the cycle. That way I get a crop every 10 weeks. I think you have 2 weeks to go in veg and the 8-9 in flower so you are about 3 months away from harvest.

I have it all set up in a 3' tall Rubbermaid cabinet, so its not a ton of room. But you think a 2' T5 (with 2 tubes) and a couple of CFLs on each side is under powered?

When I am ready to flower I need to change the bulbs out and go on a 12/12 cycle (from what I understand) , correct?

When do I need to do that? Do I judge it based on the size o the plant?

Two t5 - 2ft and the cfl's should be about 5-7K lumens so you are close with a grow area that small. I think you'll just have to see if you get good solid buds. Lots of variables to a grow. Just need to be patient and learn as much as you can from each one. Yes, you go from predominantly 6500k veg bulbs to 2700k flower bulbs. You can mix and match but lean toward the right wave length. I judge from # of buds ites and maturity. If it's over 5 weeks old and looks like it has lots of grow tips and healthy it's flower time. Height depends on the strain so it's not a reliable indicator. Don't worry, you can leave them in veg for a long time if needed or start them anytime after about 6 weeks. Two months later you have ready to cut plants. Mine took about 30 days to dry and cure exactly right.
